Personally, I am more of a casual player, but I certainly enjoy the tactical depth of the game. It pains me to browse through the majority of tactics and unit analysis articles you find online that provide no insight into unit performance other than a reiteration of the unit's entry in the codex, and no tactics other than "these are the good units, put them in your list". For instance, since the Daemons codex dropped, I have not read very few articles that did more than state the obvious. We all know Nurgle units can tank damage, what I want to know is whether the Beasts' counter-charge ability works well, when it works well, how to utilize it against different builds, etc. I did read a couple of interesting things (using Screamers to boomerang-strike, or inflict mass combat resolution wounds in multi-assaults against vehicles and infantry), but only enough to make me crave more, and there wasn't any.
So I was thinking about starting a blog where people post synergistic lists, combo tips, counter-tactics, unit analyses and everything else that is useful to the competitive player, but focuses especially on adding depth and discovering new and fancy tricks. This is the plan:
-We take articles from everyone who wants to contribute. The main focus will probably be 40k and WFB, strictly because they're the biggest ones (I think; Warmahordes might be inching ahead of Fantasy Battles?), but articles on any and all wargames are welcome and will be considered.
-We run them through a small group of veteran players (I'm a scrub, I'll need people with actual knowledge for this), also probably other 40k bloggers. These people will be introduced on the blog, so you all know who is approving/disapproving of your genius/inanities.
-The qualifying criteria are:
* The main points are stated clearly, and minimal spell-checking is required on our part.
* The entire concept is comprehensive and valid. It needs to work consistently; it cannot depend on random tables, for instance.
* The article provides information that is not immediately available from the army books. What I mean is, we are not looking for point-for-point comparisons and general roles when we dissect the unit, we want effective and inventive applications for it. Tactics cannot be centered around well known concepts either, we want fresh ideas that defy the meta rather than confirm it. An ideal unit synergy article, for instance, wouldn't just be "bring Venomthropes for cover", but instead describe a combo that is not obvious and/or uses 3 or more unit types; said article should also expand on when this combo fares best, and when you should abandon it in favor of another strategy, as well as relevant secondary factors such as how to deploy the combo, how aggressive/passive to be with it, and so on. Extra points if you can make Pyrovores work.
-The truly useful and/or original articles are posted, and we all get crazy laid that same night.

So, here is how I'll approach this. Send me your articles, along with your name and any other background info your find relevant, and 1-2 name suggestions for the blog. The "deadline" is May 31th. If I have received at least 5 good articles by then, I'll start up the blog. Otherwise I'll just post your articles (if consent is given) in a single thread here, and that'll be the end of it.

I've had to delete some of your other posts. Please do not spam the boards with essentially the same information over and over again.

If you want to recruit people to a blog/whatever then your best bet is a link in your sig and an active involvement in the community.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Thanks for the advice, but that won't work in this case as I don't post a lot. Either way, I understand, sorry for violating your forum's guidelines.

The best way to get people to write for your blog, in my experience, is to go out and guest blog on other people's blog to start with.

Fritz40K is a tactics blog that accepts guest posts (have a look at my contribution: http://www.fritz40k.com/2013/04/tau-xv8-crisis-suits-in-new-codex.html)

Other blogs will too.

If you have a blog up with the type of content you are looking for, and build some community karma by guest blogging, the contributions will come.

That said, a new blog takes time to build a readership. If you start a new blog with 5 articles, even 5 brilliant articles, very few people will ever find them.

Probably work

Sounds great. My only question is, why?

What does this get you that Dakka doesn't already?

This is excellent advice, I will consider it. I will be getting in touch with established bloggers like Blackmoor, Kirby, hopefully Natfka, and many others, for advice on how to handle this, and, if I decide to run with it, a friendly bump. I have announced the project through other channels as well, and have received 2 articles already. This could become something special.
As far as guest blogging is concerned, that would be quite impossible, as I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough to write. This undertaking is supposed to be more of a formal amalgamate of knowledge, albeit of higher-than-usual grade, rather than a personality/community-driven daily blog like most currently in operation. For instance, we won't be hosting news and rumours, or articles concerning personal views. To that effect, I don't need to personally contribute to other blogs, as my footprint on the community is irrelevant to the prosperity of the project, and many of the people contributing will likely be posting their articles elsewhere too. In fact, once I get it rolling, my involvement will be minimal. I just want so start it up, and hopefully see it one day develop into a useful tool of strictly "academic" nature.
The 5 article goal is set up specifically to see if there is enough interest to actually justify the existence of a new blog, my actual goal would be 1-2 articles per week. The point of all this is to create a place where you always learn something new about the game, and something useful as well, without any unnecessary opinionatedness, extravagance, generalist descriptives or abstractions.
