How does the Obliterator Weapons rule work when performing Overwatch? The rule states that the unit may not fire the same weapon in two consecutive shooting phases, yet says nothing about how it interacts with Overwatch fire. If I fire a Lascannon, and am then charged, am I allowed to switch to Assault Cannons, since nothing states that the weapon choice remains fixed, or likewise, if I fire Heavy Flamers and are charged, can I then do Wall of Death with the same Heavy Flamers?

Oblits are Slow and Purposeful IIRC, and therefore can not fire Overwatch.

Also the rule had been changed slightly. They cannot fire the same weapon in 2 consecutive shooting attacks.
|
Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

No, he said "shooting phases" which is very different.

But Obliterators can't overwatch right? So their only shooting can be in the shooting phase. So saying 'shooting attack' is pretty much the same as 'shooting phase', in these circumstances.

Not really. What if the enemy targets you with a power which allows him to take control of the unit, such as Puppet Master, would the rule apply then, because the difference between "shooting attack" and "shooting phase" would make a great difference here.

Also, you can get Endurance cast on Oblits, which makes them Relentless.

Slow and purposeful already makes you relentless, in the sense that you can fire heavy weapons at regular BS after moving and charge afterward.

Relentless allows for Overwatch.

Relentless allows for Overwatch.
Relentless is silent on the matter so the general rule would apply allowing the unit to fire overwatch if the unit was not Slow and Purposeful because it specifically disallows overwatch.

Relentless allows for Overwatch.
It doesn't allow it, but it doesn't disallow it.
If the model had Relentless it would still have Slow and Perposeful as well. The end result being the restriction of no Overwatch is still there.

Maybe so, but the OP did not know that to begin with. Automatically Appended Next Post: grendel083 wrote: Janthkin wrote:bogalubov wrote:Slow and purposeful already makes you relentless, in the sense that you can fire heavy weapons at regular BS after moving and charge afterward.

^^ This, they wouldn't lose SnP just because they acquired relentless.

Seeing as how the original wording is that they cannot use the same weapon in 2 consecutive shooting phases, that meant:
CSM Shooting phase - fire weapon A
Enemy Shooting phase - cannot fire weapon A
CSM Shooting phase - fire weapon A as it is not a consecutive Shooting phase.
Now they cannot shoot weapon A in their next turn, unless they can fire a different weapon before that (such as with Puppet Master).

Well no, the context of the FaQ is that they can not use the same weapon in 2 consecutive shooting phases where they are allowed to shoot..
