So I have a roughly basic army and everything seems to work just fine....except this Battlewagon.

It feels extremely useless, it gets popped the first turn they get to shoot unless I keep it behind a wall. I keep burna boyz in it, and dropping a template on 10 terminators and seeing them drop to 75-some wounds is a lovely feeling, however I've only been able to do that once of the 20-some games I've played with the battlewagon.

So, I want to swap it out.

I was thinking a bunch of stormboys+zagstruk as a deep striking unit, or a group of nobs to be a "cushion" for my lootaz. Guarding them in case someone decides to charge them.

Depending on who you ask, Stormboyz are either "rubbish" or "can be good, but are hard to use and you can generally spend the points better elsewhere"

Foot Nobs aren't exactly a great unit either.

Whats your general army composition?

Deff Dread because...my dad bought it for me, and painted it, and it looks really nice.

15 lootaz

15 more lootaz

Big mek(was with the burna boyz, to use the deff dread as a troop choice, but Ill put him with one of the lootaz or remove him and get another warboss if i get another nob squad)

7 nob bikers+warboss on a bike

A looted freaking wagon because i need the points to reach 2000, what we play at.

Battlewagon can roll well with those Bikers man. Its just, you need more than one. One will get shot down and burn. Three will get through just fine. Especially with a Big Mek KFF in one of them.

Out of the two options you presented, I'd have to recommend the Stormboyz. Could work well with the Nob Bikers. Nobs however, they'll hit the enermy line waay after everything else, if at all, and if they don't try for the enermy line they'll just be ignored.

Pffft, nuts to that. Just buy tanks from your local dollar store and stick 'spiky bits' all over them. I have nine scratch built 'ork vehicles' that do double duty as battlewagons, and they cost me like five bucks each

Grots can do that. And for way cheaper.

Space Wolves: 3770
Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000

They pop front armour 14 turn one almost every game?

They must be gooooooooood.

But yeah, vehicles tend to only work well if saturated now. 3 battlewagons, one at least will get in and flame that way.

Big mek with forcefield in the wagon can help too, giving it a 5+ save can help out.

You have no idea how many times a lascannon has rolled a 6 then another 6 on the pen table on my freaking battlewagon and my big mek inside was unable to stop it.

I want to distance myself from bad luck, IE vehicles.

I know I have a deff dread, but only cause my dad wants me to use it.
