Whats the best way to do this?

In particular, I'm looking to protect the rear armour of my battlewagons from Imperial Guard Artillery. That gak is nasty

If I was to back a vehicle into something, another vehicle, some terrain, or whatever, would that in any way protect it from barrage templates falling immediately behind it?

Play the barrage rules correctly and take a hit to side armour as the rules say.

Otherwise you need to find a roof or kill the artillery. You can also get close enough that the blast maker doesn't have room to place without touching their own models.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

The only way barrage firepower should be hitting rear armor is if it manages to scatter such that the center point is both behind your vehicle and within range of the blast template's radius.

This is really rather unlikely, and it sounds like you're not playing the barrage rules properly. Remember that the opponent has to place the marker such that the center point is covering your model, and if the center point scatters over your model, you take the hit on side armor.

Nope, barrage always hits side armour. Even if it has it's back to you, you still hit side armour.

Yeah, it used to work that way in 5th, but now you just always hit side armor no matter where the template goes.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Even hitting side Armour of a Battle Wagon your still more likely to do damage to it vs AV12. If your Barrage is also Ordnance you will get the 2D6 take the higest as well. Best defence your wagons will get is a KFF for the 5++ otherwise just rush them into your opponents face turn 1 and hope for the best. Orks aren't an Alpha Strike Army but they can Beta Stike really well so use that.
