Boom! Leman Russ Commander

Hope this is the write forum, but i was looking for info on the space wolves 13th company. I am making a sw detachment for my guard and eventually it will be a main army in itself. And i liked the color scheme an the little i know of the 13th so far to make an army after them.
The little bit i know is that they were sent into the eye of terror to hunt Magnus the red iirc? After the sw beat the thousand suns? They never returned after that. Well or atleast until the 13th black crusade to save cadia. How convenient the 13th company comes back on the 13th crusade...coincidence maybe.
What info can dakka share as to what characters are in the 13th crusade like who their lord was or any rune priest so i can maybe model a unit as an hq.
I also know the 13th company tends to take armor from their foes as their armor gets ruined and as long as it doesn't have the chaos icons then its all good lol.
Thanks for all the help dakka!!!!!

You've kinda listed all that's known...
They followed Magnus into the Eye and they are still there fighting him and his followers.

If Magnus' quote from the book "battle of the fang" is to be believed either Russ has been captured or has been bogged down in enough troops to severely restrict his movements.

I should start reading some of these books.
Some of the info that I was also looking for was what prime characters the 13th company had as well, if anyone knows.

The 13th Company isn't really a company at all. It is code-speak for all of the Wolves who have split from the main chapter and been lost, whether in the Warp or the depths of space. It is sort of what Wolves have instead of Successor Chapters.

But in the beginning there was a 13th company(I will reread the codex) until Russ sent them to chase Magnus and the Thousand suns down? iirc To be exact pg9 top right in the codex. They were known as the wulfen kind.

The 13th is a company and it's also a term for lost companies.

If you want some names for the 13th Co, "Wolf at the Door" is a short story about the 13th Company right before they head out to Prospero.

Alright cool I will have to check that out! and that black library right? I saw on a wiki page they mentioned a rune priest and their wolf lord but gave no information about them. So Im trying to see if I can find any information about them as to war gear and what not so that I can maybe model my hq figures as them.

We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

Yeah, but one co. fighting from heresy time must have big casualties considering they are facing deamons, mutants, traitors on daily basis...

There was a 13th Company Army list in the Eye of Terror campaign codex.
I can't remember too many of the details, but if you could get your hands on an old copy I'm sure there would be loads of useful information in there.
Just from a quick look at ebay it seems you could get one for <$15 in the US. Automatically Appended Next Post: DarthMarko wrote:

I don't think their casualties are as high as you might imagine, also the companies back then were much bigger.

They do state that the 13th co. uses armor from their fallen enemies to replace their bad armor thats falling apart. So basically they might have less casualties as they constantly are changing armor. I actually do have it, and surprisingly there is very little information lol, they dont really say much about their fluff aside from that there are warbands of the 13th company attacking abbadons forces, suggesting that the rest of the co is still in the eye of terror attacking chaos.

The list had lots frenris wolves and gray hunters, no bloodclaws and quite a few wulfen which were nails.
They commenly took armour from the dead no matter who they were as long as it helped them carry on the hunt.
As for names see the last spacewolfs novel, Ranger ends up meeting the lord and rune preist that command the Coy.
If you need anymore info let me know by PM i have both books i think still.

Codex EoT was pretty fun. Pissed me off when the new dex came out and pretty much killed my 13th Co. By far my favorite army to play due to restrictions on vehicles, terminator armor, and dreads.

If you are jumping on the Dinobot meme bandwagon regarding the new Warhammer 40k Chaos models, grow the feth up! |

It looked like it would be pretty fun to play! I didnt know they actually had modeled an army for them. Since I saw all the pics online i've been making my 13th army the same way, and I love the scheme as its slightly different from the standard light blue and yellow.

I was reading on wiki about the 13th black crusade and they mentioned that the 13th company primarily was grey hunters as all the remaining troops were veterans and that they didnt have access to reinforcements.
Yeah, but one co. fighting from heresy time must have big casualties considering they are facing deamons, mutants, traitors on daily basis...
Maybe it's a bit like the Ork story, except played out with Space Wolves. They're reborn at the dawn of every day to fight again, and maybe, very occasionally, some escape the cycle to fight in realspace? Just food for thought.. I have 2 squads of hunters right now and I think for one of the squads Im going to try to pick up some chaos parts and throw them on some of the wolves as long as it doesnt have chaos icons or symbols. But Ive stuck with a lighter grey with black on shoulder pads and what not and then I got like bronze and red for some detail. Im pretty happy with the overall outcome of the rune priest.
