Why hello there good folks of the internets. I am a relatively new Guard player with a small force of about 20 Cadians, 10 Storm Troopers and a Command Squad, currently WIP while I strip 'em for painting later. After seeing a lot of threads around with awesome scratch builds and/or conversions, I have to ask three questions.

Question Number 1: How much plasticard does it typically take to make a Leman Russ? I can get sheets of it relatively easily, but have no idea how much I would actually need for 1-2 experimental Russes (Russ? Russ'?)

Question Number 2: What size/s of plasticard tubes would be appropriate for making cannons? I'd like to make any of the Russ cannons, but most likely I'd end up throwing together Demolisher and Battle Tanks at the most. I don't expect to make many tanks but I would probably swap the weapon loadouts every now and then. I was thinking of having a few different sizes for them so they can telescope for the longer cannons.

Question Number 3: If by chance I mess something up (cloudy varnish/spilled paint/ect), can plasticard be stripped like my models can (purple power stripping) or will plasticard become warped or damaged by doing it this way?

Thanks for the assistance.

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

In general, Purple Power won't wreck plasticard in my experience. Try a test piece with plain ol' rubbing alcohol though. It's 10x faster, cheap, but will sometimes make the glue brittle (sometimes that's what you want!)

I don't generally use plasticard for building stuff like Leman Russ tanks. I do for scratch building all kinds of other stuff or doing "Orky Improvements" to Leman Russ tanks...so I can't really answer the other questions.

Thanks, I'll be sure to try that. =P I'm sure I'll glue something incorrectly at some point. . So, huzzah for brittle glue!

Careful with alcohol though it can damage plastics really badly if left too long. generally purple power, simple green, la totally awesome, detrol will strip paint relatively quickly. usually 1 day soaking is good enough.

for scratch building, try to find a picture of the model you want with a reference model like a random troop/ then math it out the size and shape you need.
