Hey all, I'm curious as to where it states what cover save you get from being 25% obscured on the top of the bastion. I've eyed every relevant section (I think) and nothing seems to come up. Can anyone help me? What page is this on?

I believe that it grants a 3+ cover, but i don't know where it states that.

From the rulebook FAQ, which inexplicably changes battlements from fortified building to something that for some reason grants a 4+ cover save:

The Rulebook FAQ wrote:Q. What is the armour value of battlements? (p95)
A: Battlements have no armour value as they are not a
building. They serve to protect any models on the roof of
the building in the same way as barricades and walls (see
page 104), offering a 4+ cover save.

Yeah we always played 3+ till the FAQ. Is there a better example of a built fortification?

Perhaps something like a Vehicle or MC partially behind the Bastion.

A bunker, or any other terrain feature, that you and your opponent agree is a fortification thus conferring a 3+ cover save.

If your rhino is 75% behind a bastion, it gets a 3+ save.

I think you mean:

If a Rhino is 25% or more obscured from at least one model in the firing unit, by the bastion, then it gets a 3+ save.

it does not need to be 75% obscured, just 25% or more (I know 75% is more than 25%, but it sounded like, from your post, that 75% was needed to claim a save, when in fact only 25% is needed to claim a save).

I would advise you to read page 74-75 again as being behind 25% cover doesn't just grant a vehicle a bonus to their cover save. They still only gain the same cover save as any other unit that is 25% covered by some line of sight blocking terrain. There is an exception that allows them to gain an additional +1 to the cover save and it is clearly defined when this exception comes into play. In any case, it all comes down to what they are trying to hide behind as to what sort of saving throw they gain.

JinxDragon, I think you have misread the thread, because nobody was talking about a bunus to cover saves.

People are talking about vehicles getting a +3 cover save while being 25% behind a building and I believe this is incorrect. From my understanding, the only way to get a +3 cover save from any terrain piece is if you add modifiers to the base cover save. I am simply advising people to take a closer look at this section of the rule book so they do not come away with any misconceptions that a vehicle gains any sort of bonus from being 25% behind cover. If someone was to read through this thread, without taking that into account, they will likely start to play that buildings outright grant a +3 bonus to vehicles that are partially concealed.

Now there could be a misconception, maybe I overlooked the cover save you gain from a building, so if you can direct me to the right section of the book so I can see for myself I will appreciate that.

You get a cover save based on the obstructing item.
A fortification provides a 3+ cover save.
Therefore a vehicle hiding behind a fortification gets a (wait for it) 3+ cover save.

I am asking where in the book this +3 is, as I do feel I might over overlooked something and need to verify this information for myself.

Page 18 lists Fortifications as a 3+. Is that what you meant?

That would be why; I was looking in the Building, Terrain and Fortification sections for this information. If it somewhere is in those sections, then it is not very clearly indicated. Everything within those sections of the book make it seem as if the best terrain based cover save you get is a +4.

+3 it is then.
