Ok so I have had the DE dex since it came out and have never read the Lady Malys bio until now.

So after reading it, I started wondering... The being that she beat in a contest... Was it a deceiver ? ( or necron shard now)

It just seems like it could fit the description

No it was a djinn. A demon.

Hehe nerfing the C'tan even further? Well sorry mac, it's a demon or something nefarious in the warp, you know their one weakness.

Could also be the Laughing God, or just about anything else uber and non-mortal.

I want to say the necron deceiver ... But as said above, that maybe a bit of a nerf for them

Tzeentch works in mysterious ways. For all we know, it could very well be a small aspect of himself that is helping to further along his cosmic schemes. Ya' never know when it comes to the Changer of Ways.

Since I'm in a good mood I will go out on a limb. Why the hell doesn't Tzeentch offer up like a daemonic sword of one of his demons instead of a piece of himself. of course it can be argued that Tzeentch does that every time he creates a demon.

Oh, I was just referencing daemon's warpflame, where after a few sentences explaining that Tzeentch daemons can give enemy units FNP, or improves it, everytime they pass a test, they ended it with "Chaos is fickle!".

Sorry! I thought it was just timely as this is about Tzeentch!

Right so for no reason whatsoever he gives away a part of himself to Lady Malys and for even stranger reasons he doesn't tear Commorragh open with his magic powers.

I don't know how Tzeentch thinks. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But since there's no concrete fluff on the subject, I'd say it, along with many other theories listed in this thread, is a possibility. Maybe it serves him in some way. Tzeentch's plans are often, if not always, convoluted and intricate. Maybe this is just a stepping stone in a grander plot. Or maybe it's the Deceiver. Or maybe it's just a Daemon similar to the one contained within Drach'nyen. The information is somewhat vague, so I'd say there's a lot of possibilities.

And they'll never ever be confirmed, because GW loves this hint-a-bit-but-never-confirm stuff

Which is what I love about 40k fluff. When the background information is vague, it leaves room for interpretation.

It could very well have been intended to be the Deceiver before he was all shard-ed, and the blade a necrodermis phase weapon like the Callidus Assassins ones.

Ehm it's an independent entity not a freaking god. It's a freaking djinn or demon in the warp, nothing more nothing less, unless you want to believe in a really weak god.

It was most likely a djinn or some form of daemon, I agree, but the narration of the encounter does in fact seem very deceiver-ish as well. Plus, prior to the newcrons, the Deceiver was a real schemer. Gaining access and eventually control over Comorragh may have been a plan.

Again though, i don't think that's the case, but I can see why people could see it.

Can you cite where you got that information? Since you are clearly purporting it to be a fact.

If the deity is playing to lose, deliberately, and does so, why does this make him weak.

It may not be a deity. It may be a daemon, a djinn, the tooth fairy or Santa. The fluff piece does not specify.

Malys was manipulated, and isn't exactly her any more

Maybe this is Tzeentch's slow and twisting plot to wrest the souls of the Dark Eldar out of Slaanesh's hands and into his own. Or maybe he just wants to huddle closer to them 'cause all their plotting and scheeming is good for his soul. If it's even him.

Or maybe Malys was on a super eldar acid trip and thought she saw a entity and tore her own heart out, and replaced it with a chunk of crystal. And died. And everyone else still thinks she is alive and talking to them/killing them -even her enemies who are not drug elves- just to prove to the reader how powerful these super alien sci-fi drugs are. And make you all jealous. Or maybe she didn't die when she stuck the crystal in her chest, cause she's just so damn high her body doesn't even realise that such an act should be fatal.

I mean, the Deceiver helped Abaddon get Drachnyen for some reason. Perhaps to ensure that no one with the ability to actually get the notoriously attention deficit legions of chaos to stay on course for a long period of time (he can get them to band together, but they always seem to start splitting off every which way pretty shortly into it) ever takes charge.

Wait, how on earth can it be a C'tan? I thought they lacked souls and that anything warpbased was anathema to them?
