Running Cultist Horde List.
Cant decide between marks or autogun?
I want to keep them cheap. they are suppose to be meat shielf anyway.
If I give them autogun and mark we are looking at about 7 to 9 points a unit?
I usually run squads of 35 with 3 flamers.

Well if you want meat shields, then just slap on nurgle's mark and boost their toughness.

You want to keep them cheap, why are you asking where to spend your points?
I run them with nothing, big blobs, flamers if you want but otherwise I don't see much point in spending anything here when you could be putting those points into units that aren't just there to catch bullets.

Autoguns don't actually hit or kill anything in cultist hands, and there autopistols unless you stand still.
MoK and MoS are useless. They're cultist.
EXCEPTION: MoS with BoE on a max mob gives you FnP against weapons str 5 or less, which isn't useless. Just more expensive, but you are getting FnP on 30 models, so it's the most efficient that banner actually gets.
MoN is popular, and I don't get why. You boost the cost considerably and you gain very little survivability. T4 with improvised armor is still crap. Maybe if you stick em behind the Aegis or camp in heavy cover this would help.
MoT is the only good option IMO. It's not spectacular, but a 6++ saves ~17% of the incoming wounds regardless of weapon str.
I always max flamers because a.) D3 auto hit overwatch shots per helps tremendously and b.) cultist don't kill anything, but several flamers can kill lots of stuff. If you want cultist that threaten something, go with flamers.
IMO:
2x Max blob w/ MoTz and max flamers led by Abby, DP, DA, or Lord.
2x Naked min blob for obj.
Maybe sub in:
Max blob w/ MoS, BoE, max flamers, DA with HtH kit or Lord.
The real question, what is the appeal of a cult horde list?
Baring troops, nothing else in the C:SM codex supports hordes. Maybe run a gakload of spawn, termicide units and oblits also, completely negating all of your opponents AV weapons.
I'm curious what you plan to run

Yes I want to keep them cheap. But I dont want to lose 50 percent of my guys in 1 turn and having to check for morale before I even get close. Not pretty sight to have 200 points run off the board. lol.
I usually will be close enough to smash things in 2nd turn.

MoN increase their cost significantly and IMO doesnt really do much. sure you are only wounded on 4+ but. 4+ aint that hard to get. And I get no armour save for most wounds with a 6+ AS Automatically Appended Next Post: cod3x wrote:Autoguns don't actually hit or kill anything in cultist hands, and there autopistols unless you stand still.

Total 4019 points. Let the apocalypse Commenced!
Plan is to push forward with the cultist (1 squad has dark apostle to give them fearless) he can hop from squad to squad, if the number of 1 squad gets too small to give him the wound bubble.
Advancing along will be my elites(which will actually do some damage). Ahriman along with thousand sons in the rhino. Cast some psychic power onto the cultist or shoot something up.
My Opponent need to choose which to shoot. The cultist or the rhino. Both can be devastating if I get close enough.
Daemon prince flying all over the place. vector striking and assaulting on first turn. When the night scythe comes in. It will assist the heldrake in taking it down.
Predators Providing supporting fire with autocannon and lascannon shots. Pressuring them from the back.
Not forgetting the possessed, in the land raider, moving flat out to the front, drawing some fire, if survived, assault weak enemy units and wipe them out.
Second turn,
Terminators comes in with Abaddon behind enemy lines. Thats 10 2+ wounds he has to chew through.
Heldrake comes in. Become an annoyance or cause some damage(taking care of his doom scythe mainly)
Once the Wraiths, Deathmark, Night Scythe and doomsday ark are taken care of, Should be smooth sailing for me till the end of the game.
Any thoughts on the list guys? Facing A Necron army that relies on Wraiths, deathmark and royal court and LOTS OF MINDSHACKLE SCARAB.
Plan to blast them into kingdom come.
Please give me feedback. Good or bad. I want to hear it.
P.S. Thought of bringing in another heldrake. But I only own 1 model atm.

I don't play 4k, but I can say that I use small squads of cultists a great deal and find them very useful. The only upgrade I would really consider would be autoguns (and maybe stubbers), just to give a bit more threat range to help force more grounding tests on Swooping FMCs.

Define 'small' squad. I think running them would be at least 20 models a squad. or they will usually be obliterated in 1 turn. didnt think about that before. Yes. It'd be great to force that grounding test on the MC. nice.

I usually run 10s for cheap, cheap scoring. They either start in Reserve or deployed behind an Aegis (or occasionally behind a hill or in area or a ruin), so they can sustain a fair number of shots with their cover saves and going to ground. Normally shots into them are largely wasted. To put a lot of wounds onto them an enemy unit usually has to get close; and then they're in threat range of my assault elements.
I may start running larger squads with Tau out there putting put more shots at long range and using markerlights to negate cover. Or I may just hide mine more and reserve them more.

So you have assault units camping in your deployment zone. Well I run them in huge blob and just rush them to the front. along with my other elites. So enemy has to choose to shoot them or my other elites. Cultist when they get close. They can be dangerous too.

No, I have cheap 50pt units (often functionally bodyguarded by Oblits) camping in my DZ, with assault units moving forward aggressively and intercepting things that want to threaten the cheap scorers.
Spending the points to make them big isn't a terrible idea either. It's just a different approach.

Also, not if you want to play chaos.

They cost less than imperial guards. The idea is to have a maximum amount of bodies at a minimum cost.

At the end I think the main question is whether or not to include flamers.
All of the other options cost too much for what they give you and/or there are better alternatives out there that do the same thing, like IG.
