Hey guys from the United Kingdom I wanted to say thank you for being our allies. What Prince Harry did was a real class act and more than anything our current president has done let alone done for your military. I'm not going to turn this into a a bash the president thread, but I've served in the Marine Corps and after 5-6 years of our president treating our troops like a red headed evil step child its a blessing that our allies haven't forgotten us.
I don't know much of anything about the royal family but I felt like I really wanted to thank them for this act of kindness and so I'll thank all you Brits on dakkadakka instead.

That is the definition of class.

I love that he took the time to handwrite a note and place the wreaths.

Well done Captain, and thank you to the Brits for being our comrades-in-arms.

Hey now! Oh, wait...

...You don't mean Harry, do you? Carry on.

In all seriousness though, fair play to Harry. He's really grown into his role and it's nice to see him honour our allies in this way. Despite all the political manouevering of the civil servants we hesitantly call 'leaders', there is no doubt where the people of our two nations stand, and that is shoulder-to-shoulder in times of difficulty. This is why I respect Harry, his brother, his father and his grandparents - you know this sort of thing comes from the heart because they're not trying to win votes. I absolutely do not doubt the purity of his motives. He didn't have to do it at all.

"Hey, guys; yeah I have chocolate all over my face and my hands but seriously, don't eat that chocolate". If you don't like the way the brooms dance, don't cast the spell, pal. If you want to honor Prince Harry's gesture, nothing wrong with that. It was a nice gesture.

But don't pretend to ride a moral high horse while you crap publicly on your former, and many Dakka member's current commander-in-chief, especially in favor of a member of a foreign government.

Anyways, yes, nothing but respect for our comrades in arms. I've tried repeatedly to get stationed at an RAF, and I will continue trying, cause I'd love to work with them. A heartfelt thanks to Prince Harry for his actions. They speak well of his character, and our relationship with our brothers across the pond.

Hey look, it's a swipe at the fascislammunist overlord (History's Greatest Monster!) disguised as praise for the Brits.

The British majority rather like Obama and all gave a huge sigh of relief when he was elected and we saw the back of GWB.

My cousin in the British army now is fond of him and my cousin who died serving in the army in Afghanistan would have liked him, or indeed anyone over Bush. As long as Obama keeps winding down the wars started by his predecessor and not starting any new ones, I'm all for him.

Thanks! It combines the triple threat he represents to Free America* (*all rights reserved, the Right Wing), as a fascist, islamic and communist, all in the same breath! Nostrodamus said the Anti-Christ would come from the East and Kenya is East of Murica!

He has come to give you affordable healthcare and try to save the motor industry! Run to the hills! Cover your eyes!

You insulted the president in the same post you said not to.
And now you are saying that they shouldn't say something about it because you are a veteran. Oh, and all those videos are from different years.
Now onto the proper topic. From any other foreign leader or politician, the cynic in me thinks it woul be a hollow gesture from them.
But harry forwent the royal crown for the military, So I like this guy, good on him.

Then there is no reason to post this:

You opened up the debate of "what has the president done or not done". So deal with it.

Didn't the Corp cashed out a NCO for posting negative remarks on the POTUS a year ago? Also a reminder. There are quite a few NCO's and Officers from four branches that post on here (active). Not sure about Major Tom his grammer to correct

Until you serve your country and get "crapped" on by "your" commander in chief you shouldn't tell veterans not to state their opinion after all we have earned, fought, and died for the right.

One thing that is often forgotten is that veterans also fought and died for my right to tell them that I think their opinion might be stupid.

Stop egging it D

Other then that.

Henry cool. He has a damn good time before he deploys, takes his R&R and coming home. Can't really call him a Blackshep of the family since we cheer him on (those of us in the military becase we do the same). Besides Bastion/Leatherneck is a nice FoB and also its known when he's in the Box so it gets a bit......heated

Well, I think the amount of "rights" you have while enlisted is not exactly as extensive as the amount of rights we non-military folks enjoy. Folks that enlist get some good benefits, but they willingly take the raw end of the deal as well and sacrifice quite a bit while serving.

Indeed a class act by Prince Harry.

And please don't use the veteran card to defend yourself. I will be an Officer (hopefully an Army Ranger if everything stays as it is now) within two years, and while I completely disagree with most everything the president does and many of the posters on this thread, I can't wait for the opportunity to fight to defend their right to say it.

Can't we all just get along?

We sign away a lot of our rights when we take that oath.

I remember hearing something about an NCO getting some gak over facebook postings, but I think that was because he was using his status as a Marine to help get his message across, not just that he was saying them.

I can say whatever I want about about the POTUS, as long as I'm not using the AF in the message. It's commissioned officers who get in the gak over it. The UCMJ strictly forbids them saying the bad about congress critters and the TOTUS.

Decent fella and unlike allot of royal hangers on he's actually put his money where his mouth is and actually put his life on line. He could just have easily got himself a cushy posting but he insisted on going to Afghanistan anyway. Much respect.

He's gets allot of stick from some for his antics, but he come across a pretty normal bloke and I think he's more than earned the right to lark about with beautiful women on his downtime. I certainly would if I where him.

Honestly, if I was a prince I would be hard pressed not to act out a bit while I'm young. I mean, I'd be a freaking prince. Actual royalty. Not going to be young and princely more than once.

I think the guy is all the more impressive for becoming such a stand up guy after his antics.
