You mean, if there are multiple characters in a unit, and that unit gets hit by a 6 spell, you can choose one of those characters to get a LOS?

Yup, I'd say the player whose unit has been targeted gets to choose. It stops spells designed to stop Deathstars being able to snipe a single character from a unit, whilst at the same time keeping a risk for people who stack multiple characters in a unit.

Standard practice in EU for a few years now. It helps a lot with balancing 6ths as they now do what they are supposed to: kill huge units, not snipe the General / BSB.

Or the 6th spells can do a max of 1 wound per model.
Let's it kill basic troops, but characters, monsters and multiwound medels don't get wacked.
I know a group who uses it and it works well.
They also went back to previous editions were you get a max +2 to casting spells.
+1 for lvl 1 or 2 and +2 for level 3 or 4.
That really brings back the option of playing level 3s.

They say you never appreciate what you have until it is gone. I fear that isn't true for your mind. |

For me, it fixed all of the major gripes I had with previous editions. There are a few things that are starting to come out with the new army releases that are making me worry about powercreep, but I'm 95% happy with 8th ed. Long may it continue IMO.
