Hey guys, so I am planning on expanding my army. I have a minimal ork force right now but am not sure which way to go. For about the same price, I could either get two dakkajets, or the DV box.

If I get the DV box set I will not only get the chaos units that I may want to ally with my orks, as well as the DA bikes which I would convert to chaos bikes, but also the rulebook and the templates, which I dont have right now. I have been using other peoples rules and templates at the store when we play.

So my question is do you think its an awesome value that I shouldnt pass up to get the DV box set or should I stick with the ork army and get two badass models with some badass dakka dakka power?

To be fair, you could buy the jets, then hunt on ebay for the rulebook. It''s like $20 now.

Getting DV for Chaos allies means you'll also be shelling out for another expensive codex.

The bikes are a little more irritating to modify to make them look like chaos rather than vandalized marine bikes.

I agree that a used rule book is easy to get cheap.

Try getting the orks from "Assault on Black Reach" they are good and the Koptas are painful to face.

There is little point to buying the starter set just for the rulebook when its easily available online. And army ADD is the surefire way to kill your hobby. At least get a good sized force for one army before branching out.

If the DV set had orks in it it would probably be worth it, but as its 2 separate armies from your current one it's only going to distract you.

Hear, hear. Listen to these wise words. Only branch out if you find a fantastic deal that you can't pass, like someone selling a decent sized army for a very low price.

Awesome. I should be making the order for the jets soon. I think I'm going to get some more ork warbikes as well to finalize my 1500 pt list.

But now that im thinking about it, I may see if I can get some other army's flyer and some battlewagon bits to make a looted dakkajet.

A plane with a deff rolla would totally be something that makes sense to orks

I'll echo this statement.

Like others have said, definately concentrate on one force at a time.

I have been guilty of this in the past (I think I had 3 40K armies on the go at once at one point) so sold two and now concentrate on my eldar for 40k and ogres for wfb (but only buy models for one at a time).

Dakkajets! They are the ballz.

And to be honest, these starter set boxes are the hardest to convert.

Get DV and sell the regular space marines and get some ork stuff with that money.

I am going to say that get the Dakka Jets and look for that DV rulebook online separately. If you really want to get the starter box though I suggest you sell forward the stuff you wont be needing from it. That's what I did with mine. Sold the Dark Angels and kept the chaos models. And yeah getting too many armies too fast is not a good plan. In time you can get more but that might even then mess up your plans on what to buy. I have 4 different armies and every time I go to my local store I know exactly what I am going to get... until I step in and see the shelves full of miniature boxes.
