Ok, so maybe I just missed them but there doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz around Freebooters Fate.

I just started with the game and I am really enthusiastic!
The rules are simple yet give enough room for tactics, especially when you have enough terrain and you play the scenarios, it's full of flavourful fluff, and I like the no dice-mechanics.

I do have some gripes, as well (rules not free & printed rules too expensive for what you get, small range of minis, sometimes hard to find proxies, especially since: WK's sculpting is a bit hit n miss, even though his newer stuff is much better).
But overall I would say that Freebooters Fate is a top contender for the best fun / beer n pretzel miniature game ever made. I mean, it's Pirates!

So where are all the threads? No players on Dakka? And if not, what are the reasons?
The official forum is also far from being a crowded place, so I am wondering what it is that keeps people away from this treasure...

Or is it just that people see no reason to discuss their game?

Freebooter's Fate is sadly niche. I believe it's pretty popular in Germany (it's native land) but hasn't really broken out in the states/UK.

There's a few handfuls of people that like it/discuss it from time to time here on Dakka & at Warseer. The official forums are fairly active - but it's frustrating if you don't speak German as you won't be able to join in on 90% of the discussion.

I don't find WK's sculpting to be hit and miss! But a few of the oldest pieces (namely the pirate deckhands) are a bit lacking compared to the new stuff.

Still it's chugging along with no signs of stopping! Just released it's second expansion a few days ago.

I try to spread the word about how awesome it is - it'd be nice if it picked up a little more traction.

Aye - Mystic Spirits came out a week or so ago. (In German, mind you - we won't get the rulebook in English till next month)

But the cult starter box is now available, as is the Loa deck - if you wish to be ready for them!

Thanks for the replies! I almost thought this thread was a non-starter, with no replies in over a month. Good to hear that some people are playing this!

We definitely need to spread the word! I moved to Northern Germany some weeks ago, and it is MUCH easier to find players here.

I will start a new thread in the painting section - I am fairly motivated to paint and maybe others might be persuaded, as well. Hope you will post (or link up) some of your stuff!

I actually have a log on Warseer for my FF stuff. I haven't updated it in ages - but I have finished my goblin pirate starter set too - Just need to take pics and get them posted. Hopefully soon!

Hey, thanks! If the Jaguar in your gallery is anything to go by you blow me away in terms of painting skill. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your work.

IMO the best thing people can do to spread the word about FF is having awesome project logs in places where new people can see them, and see how great the FF range is. That's why I started my log on Warseer instead of the FF forums. It would work better if I were a better painter. Though I think my goblins are a step above the Impalas, once I get the motivation to get them photographed/posted.

Nice to see some freebooters discussion on here!

I got into the game about a year and a half ago and now have large brotherhood and pirate crews.

Considering goblins next as I have Cap'n Ragg.

The club I go to has about 12 semi regular freebooters players so a game is never normally hard to find.

I remember playing it when it first came out - pirates vs assassins. Unless anything's changed, we were rather disappointed by the fact that every model seemed to have the same stats, which was a bit dull. I've still got my pirates, and the characters from the Indiegogo project, but I'm the only one round here.

At the time, we were trying Freebooter's Fate and Carnevale, but both of those suffered from completion from Malifaux.

Dang am I jealous. I absolutely love the game, got a few friends to play it with me before they moved. But, now I am the only player.
