So, I was considering getting the new Farsight model, And then building a full Bodyguard squad for him. But I was wondering, Is Farsight good? Is it good to have a full bodyguard squad? And how should I equip them? (Currently I tend to just put 2 missile pods on each suit I bring..)

well, under the latest FAQs, a full Farsight bomb kills *any* 4 units within 12" after dropping with correct loadout, or purely statistical roles

Each battlesuit can target a unit of it's choice. In theory it can decimate A LOT of enemy stuff. Deep Strike without scatter in the perfect position and let it rip.

P.S: I'm not sure if they can do that without upgrades or they need a special item for each of them to target a specific unit.

The owner of one of my FLGS can't wait to try this out, because according to him he can take one suit that will control all 14 gun drones to destroy infantry, fusion, plasmas, and one without weapons so it can give re-rolls, remove enemy covers and place the "Gets hot curse" on something. Yep, it's deadly alright.

To be fair, he's kind of earned it considering his previous claim to fame was having the only power weapon available in the Tau army list... Tau special characters in general weren't so good last time around.

On moon miranda.

The farsight bomb is really good, and very difficult to counter for many armies, but it's also pretty much all of your eggs in one basket, a very Win Big/Lose Big playstyle (as generally if the enemy manages to cripple or destroy that unit then the Tau list is largely defanged)

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Farsight, as himself he is a WS5 BS5 with 4 attacks and 5I
With: Plasma rifle, shield generator and the Dawnblade AP2 Armor bane.

Its a decent shooting suit, but he is the only tau that is worth taking that can handle CC, and he can battle tanks of all things.

if you arent sold, he can bring with him 7 bodyguards, want a larger unit than 3 crisis suits? hell save your elite slots for riptides and bring along 2 and a half squads of suits with this guy.

The suits are 10 points more expensive as bodyguards, but they auto-pass LOS and they have a leadership and a extra attack in melee ( basically a Crisis suit shas`vre with auto-pass LOS ) and they can all take unlimited signature systems where the Shas`vre have to spend one of his 3 slots for the same thing.

And you can deepstrike without scatter and Shadowsun can join him, granting the whole squad Shround and Stealth, so 4+ in the open.

This among with the fact you can bring 14 drones + Shadowsuns drones along and you can put Target lock on every suit if you want you can split the fire among as many units as you please.

If you have a bastard friend that field like 15 tanks, drop farsight with shadowsun and 7 suits with fusion guns and he will never play with you again.

And because of this silly combo alone one of my FLGS added the rule "You can only bring 1 Named HQ" for tomorrow's tournament (and probably all the following )

Not to mention the mass of drones, plus the drone Shadowsun has that lets you re-roll 1s to hit. I want to run this sometime, but i also don't want my friends to hate me.

He's terrible. For the guy your playing against. Drop him in with Shadowsun as recommended and watch as he loses squad after squad in a single turn. Mobs? well 14 TL pulserifles. Tanks? Fusion. Termies? HAHAHAHA yeah sure.

Forgive my ignorance, but I was under the impression that the Tau had lost their Target Locks, and thus, their ability to target multiple units?
