edit: I've decided that I want to branch away from Ariadna for my next Infinity force, so now I'm choosing between...Yu Jing and Pan-O! Now, a few questions...

What are the main playstyle differences between the two? Yu Jing seems to have more specialised forces each with a job, and maybe a bit more fragile yet skilled (seriously, CC22? How does that even work in a D20 game?) while Pan-O seem to be a bit heavier, the knights with 2W, Guard with 2W, more staying power spread out amongst their troops. Is that accurate?

I've got a query, how do the MRRF and the CHA sectorials differ from one another in terms of play styles? They both seem to have cheap troops in about the same band (volunteers/metros) heavy infantry (3rd grey and moblots), sneakers (chasseurs and sas) and medium infantry (guard and biscard). All of them seem quite similar. I'm just really unsure on where they differ in play styles. Less Impetuous/Irregular in MRRF I guess, but is that it?

Yes.

lol, I originally had vanilla Ariadna but then I expanded into MRRF first becuase I loved the models. I eventually got into CHA because I could.

Play style wise MRRF is pretty middle ground, some very good link team options and mech deployment/infiltration types. CHA is all about hoards of crazy hand to hand dudes or linked crazy heavy infantry, a very aggressive army.

Generalising:
MRRF = Static, come at me
CHA = Imma rip yer face off laddie

Ah so they are more static, I haven't had a chance to try them out so I was trying to gather an idea from the unit stats, and the only difference I could see was no impetuous/frenzy. I'll probably give them a go as my second force, then eventually expand into the regular Ariadna stuff after that.

edit: also f*** this army with the online army builders, other ones get translated to English, just not this army.

This is good to know as I'm looking into Ariadna. Thanks for the info!

Remember that these are just the sectorials for Ariadna, if you go vanilla Ariadna you get the Russian and American units as well.

Yeah, I'm considering a lot of Ariadna right now. I'm thinking about starting by focusing on the MRRF and expanding into vanilla.

What are the most popular units for Ariadna? I haven't purchased anything yet, but I'm thinking about starting with the MRRF starter set and possibly getting the Loup Garou set and the Tankhunter with autocannon. I should be able to make 150-200 pts forces for MRRF or vanilla at that point. I'm trying to determine what to get next.

I wouldn't say static. Just not as touched in the head and willing to run into a bullet.

I'm happy to be wrong, but I didn't think the MRRF could takee Tankhunters?

right, they can not, but if I'm building a vanilla list with some MRRF elements I can use it.

It's certainly possible but keep track of the other AVA's. Like I said you can only take 2 Loup-Garou in General list so you would have two you can't use but need to buy figures to make up the points. More tankhunters? ADHL is a mean weapon too!

Plus Russariadna and USAriadna are getting their own Sectorials in the next book; whenever the hell that will come out.

Regarding the static element of MRRF VS CHA :

MRRF has para-commandos and Mirage-5 =)

That is why I said 'in general'. The AD troops are pretty much MRRFs only non static unit as opposed to CHA where it is pretty much the opposite.

Chasseurs and Scots Guard strongly disagree with that statement.

Motyak - unit names stay the same regardless of what language the assorted army builders are set to. Are you seeing skills etc. not translated?

It just took me a while, for some reason I get 'Troupes Metropolitaines' and what not, so since I had never looked at them before I was rocked back a bit by it, but I've got the hang of it now, that those are metros and I'm getting a hang of the badges so the names don't matter at all. It was just because the CHA has them called '3rd Highland Grey Rifles' and stuff like that, so it was a bit of a change.

Ok I've decided that another Ariadna force isn't actually what I want to go for, I want a bit more hi-tech, and these two (and Aleph, but someone at the store already plays Aleph, and while they play Pan-O too, I like those models more, so they won out over Aleph to tee off against Yu Jing)

What are the main playstyle differences between the two? Yu Jing seems to have more specialised forces each with a job, and maybe a bit more fragile yet skilled (seriously, CC22? For every point above 20, lower the crit number needed. So a CC22 model will not miss, and will crit not just on a 20, but on an 18+.
A Domaru with CC19, using Berserk, will hit at CC27. He CANNOT MISS, and he crits you on a 12+

Ju-jing have HI as their main push. That is their strength (PanO makes TAGs, that is one of theirs). A lot of mid-to-close range clout, with not a lot of long ranged stuff (in competent hands, anyway).

I play both PanO (Neoterra - all the pluses of High BS and MSV3, TO and shenanigans, with none of the minuses of much of the PanO miniature line. Croc men? Can't use them.) and JSA.
Winning with JSA is tricky.

Neoterra is actually who I was looking at, steering away from the knights and what not towards those sweet guards. And in the case of Yu Jing I was going with the Japanese forces, with the koala bears ha

Take Yojimbo as well, then (merc available to the JSA - no figure yet, but he's on a bike like the aragoto - and has smoke, koalas and a contender (B1 but it's ALWAYS DA).

4 koalas are better than 2. Just don't put them too far behind him or he'll outstrip them with his 8-6 move (over 6-4). Not so much a problem with the O-Yoroi.

What are the koalas? Are they like some little suicide bomber thing? They have no stats barring speed, arm, bts and wounds, and they have super jump. I don't really get it. Or are they just free cheerleaders?

Think of them as walking mines. They act to enemy actions (not AROs). If the enemy goes within the Koala's Zone of Control, it will charge towards it with the speed of light and blast a teenie weenie hole (DAM 13-14, Shock) to the enemy.

Forever a pone.

So I've knocked together a 150 list for each (the start point I had for my current faction CHA and it was a good spot to start), and a rough price for them. They both have models I really like, and I really have no idea which one to pick...I'm really coming close to flipping a coin, or going off which one is in stock, it's that hard to pick.

edit: I know! I'll poll it. Dakka, you have till my tax comes back to help me decide which one. That's how close it is with these two armies, the models and everything, I just can't pick, and this is more fun than a coin toss. And both isn't really an option, that'd be crazy...

They aren't cheerleaders - they are a weapon.
An ambulatory anti-personnel mine. They can move with their controller (if he is within ZoC - if not, they stop where they are until contact is re-established, or an enemy model activates within their ZoC) but otherwise, only move in the reactive turn, using super-jump to cover the 8" distance (ZoC - if outside of this, they will not activate) if necessary, to run up and give them a shocking hug (shock damage mine). They can be avoided with a dodge short move skill (if you haven't already committed to a second skill that order).

They were made by Yu-jing as an enormous F-YOU! to their PanO nemeses.
It's one of the big jokes in the game for us Aussies. There are freaking exploding robot KOALAs, and the one mob that can't have them is the mob that includes the AUSSIES.

We need AD Crazy Koalas as a recompense. They should give them to PanO after they create the USAriadna sectorial (because 'drop' bears only activate on Americans ).

Australia is part of the power bloc that made up PanO.

Oceania is the region we are in, globally speaking.

If something is PanOceanic, it refers to "from all over the Oceanic region".

If you have Paradiso, check some of the PanO unit badges in the book. Serpentria front, especially. The logo for the Red-K combat group, especially.

There are no "aussie" units at this point (because the last thing we want is kangaroo cavalry that use explosive boomerangs).

I assumed pan oceania had nothing to do with us since all i have seen so far in the store are military order sectorials and regular pan-o lists that are basically mil order sectorials anyway. Cool thing to know though.

Update: My girlfriend and I lost power for a day or two a while ago and we just got an apology gift from the power company. So I'm actually just going to take the poll as it is, and it is Yu Jing! I know a model worth roughly $50 that I am going to pick up with this nice little bonus (for doing nothing other than surviving with the power out. Oh the humanity).
