I was looking at the rules for Chosen and it says that Any 4 models can have MG.

Does that mean that the Aspiring Champion can have one?

I don't remember the exact wording of that rule.

If it says "models" then yes.

However, normally the books say something along the lines of "any 4 Chosen can ..." in which case the answer would be no.

Is the Aspiring Champion a model?

"Models" allows any of your Chosen to take a melta or whichever. Is that the exact wording?

Yeah you can give a special weapon to the Aspiring Champion.
I normally prefer not to as I run a 6 man chosen squad.
The 5 normal Chosen have plasma guns and the champion has a combi plasma. I used this squad a lot when the new codex first came out and outflanked them with a Slaanesh Lord on a steed.

That is relying a lot on getting the deception warlord trait, unless you are using Ahriman or Huron

Nah the Slaanesh steed gives outflank.
It was really my way of using tactics from the previous codex where chosen had infiltrate.

It's not something I've done much recently as I only ever seemed to get one volley off before my expensive chosen got killed, and especially now with seemingly every tau unit having interceptor they're just a bit too vulnerable.

I'm struggling to find a place in my recent lists for chosen.

Place chosen in a rhino with extra armor and drive them around and shot at tanks out of the top hatch. When the rhino drops then charge them in and tie up things.

Never had luck with the steed myself... my warlord seems to have a thing for noming down on incoming anti-tank blasts. If it isn't on the turn he comes in then it will be during overwatch, which just shows you my luck. It makes me all sorts of upset, as I want to see him in action. He is geared out for pure melee and can do an insane number of attacks for a single hummie, all with a with low enough AP that everything bar terminator equivalents are going to have a very bad day. Though I do feel sorry for the steed, given that he wears terminator Armour while riding around on the poor thing.

You know dudes in terminator armor can't ride steeds, right?

Awww, I knew the funny image was too good to be true.

Honestly I did have my doubts given how poorly the rules meshed together. Oh they didn't cause any violations, outside of that little 2 I over looked in the war-gear list, but they didn't sit well together either. A handful of rules relating to huge, slow and bulky models while a handful of others related to the smaller, quick and agile models. It really didn't make any logical sense that a unit would be described as both these terms.

Still thank you for making me take a closer look at the list to find the tiny caveat which relates to this situation. It is correct that a chaos lord can not wear Terminator Armour while riding on a steed. Oh well, to be fair he was far to expensive and did sweet nothing on the field, and I had already retired him in favor of Lucius. Not sure Lucius will fair any better, but only time will tell, though I really do wish he had the eternal warrior rule as he gets instant gibbed just as easily.
