Good points. Unfortunately the piece missing from every game sold is a ready supply of opponents. If you have a steady group or even just a single regular opponent that will play new stuff, then you're golden. If you don't then you have to rely on the game being popular enough or you being persuasive enough to get others to play it.

Back to the UNCHSEAS discussion, it sold out when the first release of 1st edition hit our
FLGS. I was able to get exactly two games in (I had to bring both fleets AND teach as we played) in before it became clear that nobody but me had any intention of playing the game.
