I've recently been getting stuck into painting my Hunter Cadre. Right now, I've got about a fifth of my 2k army painted and am busy bringing it up to a quarter. This is what I've done so far. Here's a Teaser, a Tau ready to Curbstomp your MEQ. I will note that the Fire warriors pictured are meant to be a little basic in painting. IF you hadn't taken the time to read the notes I've left, it's just so that they take less time to paint - the showcase will be on the suits anyway. Edits: Broken image link and bad image size.

Sorry, I don't follow links to blogs as a general rule. (Too unsafe.) But from what I can see, your Tau look pretty sweet! You've got a good color scheme going on those battlesuits, and other than the presence of the acrylic hover-rod, they look awesome! How hard was that red-crack effect to do?

Great idea for your objective markers. I might just steal that for use with my own Tau.

I use a kind of wash to do the red, actually. I'm not too much of a fan of the whole "eh, just schlop on some wash" way of doing things, I'd personally rather have them a little mediocre. (I realise I should do a bit of highlighting, and I might. But as long as I have 25+ infantry models to paint I know I won't keep the steam up.)

I understand, solo. A lot of people don't like links on here. Who knows. I could be getting your children hooks on drugs. Or worse. Ponies.
I appreciate the compliment on the colour scheme, it took me a while to think of. What do you mean by the "Hover-rod"? is that the plastic piece that stands them up?
I considered trying to just put them on the bases, but if you've ever seen a tau battlesuit's foot, they have four rather small contact points that I'd rather not spend my time gluing down.
And, as for the red, I use GW paints. The red is Evil Suns Scarlet or something, and a thing called lahamian medium. It brings down the consistency of the paint without making it lose its viscousity too much, so that I can paint a thin coat over a whole part of the model, having it fill the recesses. (like a wash.) I then simply overbrush (drybrushing with wet paint) the green over the top. It produces a simple, clean looking result that can usually be left as-is.
Unfortunately, I haven't bothered highlighting on my firewarriors, so they don't look quite so good. I may get around to it when I have finished the army.

Go for it! the other thing I did w as use the stealth team's objective marker and put it on the scenic base that the fireblade comes with - it looks really scinematic for a relic!
Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm sorry for the late replies though.

I'll hang tight until some pics get posted here, as clicking away to other links can potentially get me in trouble here at work, and it is against this showcase forums rules too...
Had a hard enough time convincing IT that Dakka wasn't a weapons site (WTF?)

Well, it is the sound a machine gun makes!
I prefer to link to the blog, I know it seems rude but I like to pretend that my blog isn't just a vanity and that it's actually doing to world some good. That and it's far easier to upload photos there than it is to put them on dakka.

Sorry for not responding, I just got lost with baby stuff and a couple of threads in the YMDC forum.
Thanks for the tip on the reds! I may try to employ that with my Tau, although I still haven't decided on a scheme yet.
And yes, I meant the clear rod. I've been working on eliminating all of them from my Tau army, and it's been a huge hassle, so I can definitely empathize with someone not wanting to do it. My crisis suits are pinned from the base, through the foot, all the way to the knee. I'm hoping to have an entire army without one damn clear rod!
