Subject: My house was surrounded by a swarm of bees.
We had this happen to us a few years ago, was at my neighbors house working on his car and a HUGE swarm came up the road. He saw it before it got to us and started yelling for us to go inside the house. We all ran in and watched from the window as they swarmed on by.
It was crazy to watch, especially for me considering I ABSOLUTELY HATE bees and wasps. If he hadn't of yelled and I was stuck outside with them I probably would have died of a heart attack. I like to tell my friends if they see me running away screaming like a girl its probably just a wasp, or a T-rex.

Yeah, Asian Hornets are scary. We actually have them in France now.
I kid you not, there was a hive of them in my house.
I would have burned my fricking house down.. We had a soccer ball sized nest of yellow jackets in our retaining wall in the back yard when we moved in. Didn't know it was there until I was walking the fence lady around for a quote and one got me in the damn eyelid. We dumped 4 cans of wasp spray into that nest and they were still kicking the next day.. ended up talking my buddy into coming over and hitting it with a can of wd40 and a lighter, followed by a pressure washer until the nest was gone. Believe it or not, the next day there were still wasps coming in and out, they stuck around for a couple of days and finally left.
I don't do that with bees, living in Washington there are tons of bee keepers who will come get a swarm if they land on your house, so if I see a large nest or a swarm I just call them up and they will usually come take them away. Bees are important you know!

Fortunately, our mayor made a system where if you have an infestation from these things, you get a free exterminator. Turns out they have a poison designed specially for the damned things.

Bees are on a huge decline, so to see a swarm like that is probably a relatively rare sight. I just hope nobody takes it upon themselves to cause them harm, since they're a very valuable part of the eco-system.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Drove through a swarm of bees with my windows down...twice. I was driving down the Loop 303(for those of you familiar with Arizona) and saw a dark cloud approaching. WTF is that, I wondered. My window started getting spackled, and before I could react to the bees and roll my window up, I started getting smacked with bee corpses. Amazingly, I didn't get stung, just had a few bee bodies stuck to my work uniform Happened again a few miles north of that(Just after the 303 connects with the I-17), but I was able to react quick enough that most died harmlessly on my windows. Kind of scary, but it was also kind of cool to see a giant swarm of insects migrating from one place to another...wonder where they ended up going.

Yep, that's the evil fether that was near my house all right. Buggers are pretty aggressive too; get within 5m of one and it'll go flying rodent gak.
The European wasp, on the other hand, is nicer. You can get pretty close to it and it won't attack. You just aren't allowed to touch it or get in its way.

Just when you thought hornets couldn't get any eviler.
Scariest. Thing. Ever. There are some wasps/hornets(I don't know the difference) about that size here in Afghanistan. Sounds like a chinook helicopter coming by. God forbid you're a small soldier, two of these things could gang up on you and take you away. I swear.
Kill it with fire.

Having been stung by more bees than I can count as a child (barefoot + yard full of clover flowers + bees = many stung feet), I have no empathy with the plight of honey bees.

I'm with kronk screw anything that even resembles a bee. Almost died to 25ish stings from ball faced hornets to my head and only my head when I was 20 and working as a landscaper. That japonicus hornet is one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen.

They flew slowly past, scaring pedestrians, and then made away over a house on the opposite side of the road.
Obviously they were swarming to find a new hive. An amazing sight! I've never before seen it happening.
By the flag on your post, I'd be far more terrified of those freaky hornets that spray everybody-get-over-here-and-feth-this-guy-up pheromones on you.
The flag is out of date.
One time when I was in Japan a wasp's nest was built on my mother-in-law's air conditioner external unit -- the square box with a fan thing that sits on a balcony. I had to spray it with insecticide. It was sad to kill them but we could not have a nest built right next to the house.
I can handle bee's. No problem......fire ants....different story.....I actually get religious fervor on wiping out a nest while station in NC Ft. Bragg...also at buddies houses to when found....and the few times at Ft Campbell KY...

Living in Texas and Louisiana all my life, I have developed a tremendous hatred for fire ants. I've even seen the flying fire ants that scout their surroundings in early summer in Louisiana.
Seriously. feth those flying fire ants.

First time I went to Ft Polk LA for JROTC there. One of our pathfinders went to ground during a exchange of fire between OPFOR and them. Needless to say when the poor PFC shot up screaming and stripping his gear and uniform off the OPFOR knew what happen. We medivaced that guy straight out the box to a college hospital on one of our birds. (UH60) bad part was he took four hits to his "boys"
