Keep the minis "blind" though, but produce/sell them dirt cheap like Reaper Minis Bones line. $3 gets you a "standard/common" Pokemon, slight chance for the next tier up. More money gets you better/stronger/rarer one. And keep the price levels staggered with chances of getting better ones at lower price levels. I'm thinking we need to pitch a kickstarter idea to whoever owns licensing on those things.

I hate blind buys, but if the did it they should have them based on the type of Pokeball. Like Net ball, dark ball, and even master balls (super rear, chance at legend).

Fezman wrote:Something along the lines of the Commandos games. One player gets a small elite squad, the other gets a large number of goons, and the "commando" player has to use stealth to survive, based on things like enemy line of sight, perception checks, disguises and so forth. Mooks would have stats like perception, intelligence etc that would affect this. Different attacks and types of movement would each have a different noise value, and other things would have to be considered (eg using a flashlight at night might let you avoid traps, but it also gives enemies a bonus to checks to spot you).

Imagine something like this played on a very terrain-heavy board...

Or 2 elite commandos /strike forces going at it. Wait... you should check out Infinity.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.

But would it be disrespectful to those currently to make a wargame set in current war theaters?

    Hell no.
Force on Force (and its predecessor, Ambush Alley), by Ambush Alley covers the modern period with both symmetrical and asymmetrical enagagements (army v army and army v loose afiliation of rebels) and is quite well liked by the military gamers. Their supplement that covers the "black hawk down" scenario, was well received by some of the men who TOOK PART in that mission, and whose exploits were codified in that book.

Even Viet-Nam is being covered these days. If it allows people to gain a deeper understanding of that conflict and of those who served, to perhaps correct the wrongs done to them after they returned (by a change of attitudes), then it can only BE respectful.

Lots of video games out there have really cool worlds, factions, heroes and monsters and everything you need to make a great line of miniatures and war / skirmish games .. What video games would you love to buy minis for? Like not just 1 favorite hero/enemy you want a model for, but as a whole game?

The top of my list would be Borderlands, Mass Effect or Dragon Age. How about you?

(I was gonna put this in the video games forum, but figured it's more about minis so I put it here )

    The Walking Dead. (Telltale games.)

    Mass Effect.

    Here we go...

Ok first, I would love to see a Space Hulk esque game based on a very old video game I fell in love with as a kid, Dungeon Keeper, with options to play as either a group of heroes or as dungeon masters against each other with expandable boards and all kinds of creatures like the Horned Reapers and Bile Daemons to summon.

Second, Team Fortress 2, a Skirmish game with large amounts of customization (whether you give your Sniper Jarate, a Razorback or a SMG, this game could be incredibly fun, then if you so chose you could have a lot of fun with the VS Saxton Hale mode, and have Saxton Hale, along with fanmade TF2 Freaks like Christian Brutal Sniper, Painis Cupcake or the Vagineers as enemies. Also most of the game modes translate somewhat well, Arena, Capture the Flag, Control Points, Payload, Attack/Defend, Medieval, you get the idea. Mann Vs Machine could be a lot of fun with stat upgrades for your team against weaker Robots on the other player's team

Pokemon as before mentioned sounds cool, I also noted someone mention a Super Smash Bros one, which would be great, heck while there's only about 40 characters in Super Smash Bros so far, you could really put in almost any characters from Nintendo you wanted to, just look through all the trophies if you want more ideas, plus bosses like Tabuu, Master Hand and Giga Bowser.

Sticking with Nintendo an obvious one to me comes to mind, Zelda, there is so much lore, such an amazing fantasy setting and so many different races, monsters and characters that I don't see how this could honestly not turn out good if some work and good rules was put into this.

Honestly along with Super Smash Bros you could probably make a decent skirmish game based on most fighting games, I'd love a miniatures game based on the Capcom Final Fight/Street Fighter universe, or the Mortal Kombat world with all the great heroes along with whole forces or Tarkatan soldiers backing the evil side up and so on. Heck, Soul Calibur/Tekken would be another good one thinking about it. Heck the Capcom thing could even expand to Marvel vs Capcom and the other members of the Vs Capcom series.

This one is a personal one, kinda just a dream, but one based on either MadWorld or No More Heroes would be awesome, heck put both together for extra awesome, seems like one where customization for your assassins/fighters would be great, possibly along with plenty of mooks on either side hired by the two sides if you don't want it to just be a one on one situation, which I can understand. Heck teams of fighters/assassins would be awesome, how cool would it be to see say... Frank, the Shamans and Elise joining forces? Or Von Twirlenkiller joining forces with Dr Letz Shake

That's all I can think of now, but I'll probably think of more in the future, likely right before I go to sleep when I don't have the energy to write it down nor the memory to remember it in the morning

I would put money into a borderlands tabletop mini game.

Either with player controlled vault hunters vs GM controlled monsters/bandits etc. in a warhammer quest style objective game or a necromunda style skirmish game with bandits/crimson raiders/zombies etc.

Also a mass effect space battle game could be cool (or again a quest style game).

I'd kill for an Armored Core mini game. Minis would have fully modular heads, cores, legs, arms, and weapons. Would be pretty awesome, methinks.

Although, considering the level of customization and depth in the videogames, the rulebook would have to be massive. Not to mention the character sheets.

See, I don't really mind that it's formulaic - sometimes I like watching a show just to be entertained, not to witness some armchair-philosopher's musings on the nature of existentialism. Defiance is Alias Smith and Jones meets Alien Nation, and I'm okay with that.

As to what video game I'd collect minis from, The Secret World would probably top the list. It's not an amazing game, but I like the aesthetic, and it'd contrast nicely with my existing collections.

Kinda surprised there aren't too many "modern warfare" kinds of miniatures, or at least they're not as popular as the fantasy and sci fi stuff. Seems like a modern day skirmish game would work well, and there's already so many military models out there that fit the scale pretty well, so you could easily have tanks and planes and choppers and other stuff.

I would love to see Mass Effect. We actually contacted EA about doing a mass effect skirmish game using the blackwater gulch rules, but they said no because we're too new of a company. I think the big name games would only happen if you had a bajillion dollars behind you. That said, I'd love to see Halo too If anything just so I can get real warthogs for my IG...

Anyone played the arcade/multiplayer mode? That could be made a wargame.

    Resident Evil and Fallout.

You can get the miniatures for them, and there are fan-made rules, but they're far from polished.

A Resi one that I found used tokens and didn't really nod towards anything in the series. It really just felt like a board game...

And the Fallout RPG is something like 400 pages long. It'd need to be a hardback book for me to bother with it.

There's a thread on making Fallout miniatures with Warhammer bits on here somewhere by the way.
