Lots of video games out there have really cool worlds, factions, heroes and monsters and everything you need to make a great line of miniatures and war / skirmish games .. What video games would you love to buy minis for? Like not just 1 favorite hero/enemy you want a model for, but as a whole game?

The top of my list would be Borderlands, Mass Effect or Dragon Age. How about you?

(I was gonna put this in the video games forum, but figured it's more about minis so I put it here )

Mass effect would be pretty awesome,

I dunno if anyone has been playing/watching defiance but it has a great story set up.

I'd buy well done Gears of War miniatures.

It's not a super-popular game, but I find Warframe to have some of the most unique art direction I've seen in quite some time. I'd love miniatures in 28mm of the characters in that game. All the protagonists have a very 'organic' look to them, one enemy faction has a corporate 'clean' look to them, another enemy faction has a militarized 'gritty' look to them, and the last enemy faction is generic space-zombies.

A space navy battle for Mass Effect would be so cool.
Me, I would personally love a Historical Mini game based off call of duty.
But would it be disrespectful to those currently to make a wargame set in current war theaters?

I'd quite like a Halo game, I know there's an action clix version but that's not really the same.

There is a cooperative board game with GoW miniatures from FFG. I have it and really enjoy it!

Xcom.

It plays like a tabletop game anyway, might as well make it an actual game.

Seriously - everyone's picking pretty standards sci-fi/fantasy settings. We have a million of those already.

I'd suggest:
Pokémon - instantly has hundreds of mini designs ready to go, translates into a skirmish game almost effortlessly. Would be super popular.

Plants vs Zombies - Would be an excellent game-in-a-box. Limited plant/zombie designs (so duplicates would be no problem), easily played on a grid - again would translate into a TTG with very little effort.

Both would bring a lot of new/crossover players into the tabletop gaming realm IMO.

Homefront.... (I want some modern troops and some ragtag rebels that looks good and modern). I also want a homefront 2, but that is a video game thing.

Half life would be awesome too. And L4D (not so much the zombies though).

Romance of the Three Kingdoms from the original NES.

Super Mario Brothers. Side Scrolling on your table top.

Spy Hunter. Kind of like Car Wars. Kinda.

Oh man, Pokemon would actually be pretty cool. And as far as PVZ goes I recently read an article about how popular game apps are creating board games to raise profits. I think there is now a bejeweled tabletop game.

@Kronk - I actually have it and I agree. Super fun. Doens't get the credit it deserves.

I think iI misunderstood the thread. I thought the question was which video games would we like minis of, not a miniature game of. My bad.

Maybe I didn't understand it, either.

Either way, you and I can enjoy Gears of War and laugh at those that don't own it. HAHAHAHA!

This has a surprising amount of potential as a skirmish game, you have a lot of really well defined roles, a nice bunch of different objectives and some great maps for terrain (2fort).

Oh yes, you've got everything from footsloggers to air combat (heck, space too from what I remember of Reach). Weapons are great in that game as well (you're being harassed by a group of banshees? Hand over a plasma pistol to the nearest spartan). It's just be plain cool to see Halo miniaturized, bet it'd give 40k a run for it's money anyway.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I keep wondering when someone will release a Pokemon style minis game. The genre of masters controling a stable of 6ish monsters that fight in arenas seems like it would be a real easy transition to skirmish miniature wargame.

Oops, I forgot one.. Killzone would make a great skirmish game.. but I think it's really just 2 factions the ISA and Helgast. I'd love to see some helgast not-imperial guard armies

I could see a Mario game being really fun with cartoony figures, but it would be difficult to do the breakable blocks. You could have a lower level second board that players could access via pipes.

A thinly veiled Super Smash Bros. skirmish game could be fun too. Maybe have teams instead of just controlling one model and call it: Team Smash, Bro

L4d would make an awsome skirmish game. you have your group of survivers all tooled up with guns and chain saws. then you have your undead. Zombies make up the horde of the army and are nice and squishy. Witches are super hard core hand to hand fast attack units. And bloaters are big area effect tanks.

Oh wow how cool would a dawn of war game be where you can have sqaud of space marines and go round smashing up orks, oh wait.

But my fave and I am actualy working on rules for it, But dead space, think of space hulk but with 1 engineer rather than 5 homosexual terminators.

You'd probably have more success releasing it as a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon set up. (If anyone's cool enough to understand what that would entail).

Warcraft 3 and some of the Dota 2 characters. I can't understand why nobody has licensed the Warcraft IP to make a wargame (and I mean a PROPER wargame, not that cheap pre-painted plastic "WoW The Boardgame" BS that failed horribly). I have always wanted to have a Night Elf fantasy army.
