I've been using two teams of 3 stealth suits with one fusion target lock and beacon. Drop in one near a target. Use it to drop in shadowsun just within melta range of my target. Then put the other team somewhere where it can do damage. In some cases with the other team. Then use shadowsun to nuke whatever it is i want to kill, stealth suits shoot at whatever else in in range with their (not small) number of BC shots. Then use them as mobile cover for her to block assaults and give her a 2+ in the open

Ew, I like the mobile cover thing! Excellent idea.

I ran a low point (1250) game earlier and found a crisis suit loadout i think is awesome. It is easily the biggest threat i had in my army at the time and it shredded my opponent (CSM).

Melta, Plasma, Adv Targeting System
Plasma, Plasma, Adv Tageting Systemx2

I ran 2 of these. They both deepstriked in and exploded something (one got his spider thingy, the other killed 8 out of 10 Nurgle marines thanks to markerlight BS boosts). 165pts each, and they got way more than their points back lol.
Also i ran the Adv Targeting System because i intended these to be throwaway units, so i didnt want to kit them out fully. Its 3 pts, which makes them cost an even number (which adds up nicely in the end), and 10 Plasmas + 1 Melta all fiing precision shots has one hell of a character-sniping chance, which i did lol (ok wasnt a character but it was a banner guy making his marines fearless sitting in the back)

Im thinking the melta wasnt worth it but i remembered that i only took out that spider because, for some reason, he didnt bubblewrap the rear of his spider so i hit AV10 instead of 12.

Either way this was a definate anti-power armor race tactic lol.

Are there even any viable tactics with stealth suits? If they were FA i'd use the crap out of them but they compete for crisis suits and riptides and i just dont see their threat level to be nearly as high.

I am one who likes the Stealthsuits quite a bit. so yeah, crushing flanks with the bunch of them and there just being too many of them for theenemy to get at without getting their faces shot off is pretty killer. Its my alternate army now for Tau just because I am practicing for a tourney in August that required me to already have my list in. Otherwise I'd use it even more!

I'm kind of on the fence about stealthsuits, they always seem to do really well or absolutley nothing at all.

which is my issue on them. they just dont seem to do enough for the cost to justify not taking crisis or riptides for that slot.
Literally the only upside they have vs anti-infantry compared to crisis suits is the..obviously...cover saves. Sit in any terrain, 2+ cover saves. But if the terrain isnt in your favor, or theyre MEQs, it wont make a difference.

In my meta its pretty much only 3+ armor im going against. IG player left not too long ago and Necrons are kinda 50-50 on 3+/4+ units or theyre vehicle spamming. Unless im putting out 3x the shots, i'd rather pen the armor. When i play orks the only reason i dont care is because im throwing 30+ dice in your face on a bad day lol

EDIT: I should just run them one of these days to try them out, whether the mathhammer shows its a bad idea or not. I have 5 of the OLD stealthsuits that are metal and look like beefed up firewarriors, its a crime to not use such classy models lol

Yeah it is! A crime I mean.

Speaking of those there is a definite advantage to using the old ones. much easier to hide and move.

Yeah, it works pretty well for me. Since Shadowsun's my warlord, she's a lot more of a tempting target, so people have to choose between the easier kill (the suits) and the more valuable kill (her).
I mean, its better than one big squad that just gets caught in assault.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I used shadowsun all the time in the last codex, and I found her to be incredibly useful as a suicide unit that drops in and kills a target. However, what made her so great was that she usually took out two enemies for me, and actually rarely died. Even before she got to jetpack after deepstriking.
So because of that, even in this codex I still find it perfectly fine to run her without a squad.

Also, funny story. A buddy of mine was playing with both kind of stealth suits. He had explained to his opponent that they were both stealth suits, its just they are new and old models. But the opponent spent all their energy shooting at the bigger suits that were far away while the smaller ones were running around doing all the damage. Just goes to show I guess
