Hey everyone i'm just about ready to start my collection of LOTR mini's but can't get a clear awnser on something...

Do you still use the One Book to Rule Them All or is the new Hobbit Strategy Battle Book the actual ruleset now?

I'm going to stick to the one book rather than get involved in the Hobbit. Seems easier than having to keep up with GW's antics.

It really depends on what the group you'll be playing with uses, but The Hobbit SBG is the latest (and current) edition of the rules.

Its really not worth buying the Hobbit book at this point as GW may supersede it in December with another edition. Hopeflly they won't but this is GW.

How are the rules in the hobbit? Are they about the same as the one rulebook?

There are a few changes but overall the core remains the same. Stick with the ORB for now if you aren't going for the hobbit.

The chance of a new book is keeping a lot of people away.

Cheers man

It depends on whether or not he wants to play before December and what rules his opponent's will be using.

So they are going to change the rulebook for every movie?

Potentially seeing as GW did do it for the three LOTR movies, so anything is possible.

Highly likely.

I still use the ORB, and I've been fine with it.

Yeah, I think the original rulebook is pretty much the same as the HSBG one, so I'd stick with what you've got. Unless you play in your GW, they'd probably want you to have the latest version.

It may be worth buying the HSBG one when/if one is released for the final movie, since that, I imagine, will be THE final rulebook for the game system.

The hobbit rulebook is to the lord of the rings rulebook what 6th edition 40k is to 5th edition 40k. Some rule changes, but the core is still the same.
