I play Orks so I have never read in detail the JET PACK section.

How far do they move, under JUMP pack they move 12 , but under JET PACK it is not specific on how far they move in the movement phaseother than the 2d6 jump in assault phase.

Friend has been playing them as moving 12 and then jumping 2d6.

Should it be move 6 then a 2d6 jump in assault ?

The reason that Jet doesn't mention a distance is because it depends on the unit's other type.

i.e. Jet Pack Infantry move 6", but Jet Pack Cavalry move 12"

It's 6", it's been 6" for as long as the old codex (and possibly longer IDK) was out.

Its whatever the troop type normally moves and then a 2D6 move in the assault phase.

It's 6" for Jet Pack Infantry, because Infantry move 6". For other unit types with Jet Packs, it's whatever those unit types can normally move.

This is a very big change from last edition, where Jet Pack units were a unit type all by themselves.

He specifically asked for Tau, it's 6" for all the jetpacks in the Tau codex.

Its shennanigans i am afraid, you still roll 2d6" and not the full 12, so i believe you have been fooled.

Crisis suits move 6" in movement phase. Note that Jet packs only fall back 2d6 now.

Next time get them to show you it, in writing.

Much easier to find out when theyre just plain wrong.

So wait... Jump Infantry are now the same as regular infantry?

Only other conclusion I can come to here is that they can make an optional move in the assault phase at the cost of being able to charge, which couldn't possibly be true, because that would be a gak rule even by GW's gakky standards of rule making.

Huh? Did you mean Jump or Jetpack there?

Jetpack infantry move as fast as infantry do, get the Thrust move in the assault phase, and ignore terrain while moving. Thats not the same as regular infantry

The point GT was making is that there is no fixed 6" anymore - jetpack cavalry move 12", same as cavalry, but can move over terrain instead of through it, AND get the 2D6 thrust move.

Your post doesn't seem to have read the brb on this, it would clear up your confusion if you did.

No. The thread is about jet packs, not jump infantry.
