Its always seemed to me like the majority of thousand sons are psykers but in the description of the rubric of ahirman only 34% are.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

34% were un-mutated. So the rubric didnt turn them to dust... which is kinda weird. Why would all the Rubric Legionaires have intact armour if they were turning into spawn?

Not all the legionnaires had started mutating at the time. The Rubric was cast precisely because the rate of mutation was increasing, but it could still be largely stopped.

Note that the turning-to-ash side effect isn't a mutation. The surviving Sons are split between Sorcerers who made it and now can't be mutated...and legionnaires who got sealed in but still can't be mutated.

As for those who were already mutated when the Rubric was cast...umm...dead I guess? No idea. :p
