While I don't doubt that it happened as its the most common complaint about the GW cases, I've never had it happen. I've owned 8 of the smaller ones and 4 of the big double sized ones (still have the 4 big and 2 small) and I've never had that happen even one. I've left the cases in unheated/uncooled Great Lakes storage for 2 years (95 in the summer and 10 in the winter) and that didn't make them any more or less brittle (they survived years of weekly use as well multiple moves before and after storage).

I'm hoping, probably in vain, that the new terrain will work like existing Gun Emplacements. When I realised that the Vengeance Weapon Battery could be equipped with a Punisher Gatling Gun, I thought of what a Retributor would do with it, and wept manly tears.

AV13? How could an S7 weapon get a pen against AV13? You get a pen and you roll on the table in apoc, right?

they must have upgraded the macro-cannon profile from the main rulebook.

They're also prone to making Khorne SHVs somewhat more volatile than others when they are destroyed. Perhaps that played into it.

Meh, the gw figure cases are known for falling apart at the worst possible time. The Gamer\collectors editions of the past have been pretty cool so these disappoint. I have the bolter ammo case that is metal, not a rubbish cardboard shoebox and the munitorum satchel is pretty cool too.
