Do bretonnian knights come with a set of flat helmets as well?

I'm thinking about making a more dark gritty less flamboyant bretonnian army. The giant helmet extensions would make this hard though !

No, you get I believe two helmets without the crests. The crests can be removed easily though.

You should have a look at historical ranges for Bretonnians
1st Corps / Plastic 1st Corps
Crusader Miniatures
And of course, the best ones, Perry miniatures

Much cheaper and some are really gorgeous (The Perry one are of course awesome)

Yeah, it should be easy enough to clip most of the extra add-ons off. Maybe a little greenstuff to cover up.

I've had a similar idea for a got army

It has heads for Knights of the Realm- the guys with the fancy "crests" (whatever) on top. It also has a mix of more normal looking helmets & uncovered heads- these are usually used for Errant Knights. So you could use either the Errant Knight heads or clip off the crests like others have suggested.

Maybe I should say if you want a 'clean' helmet you'll have to use a knife to trim off ribbons/laurels. Eliminating the crest will still leave a decorative laurel thing at the top. A lot of the Errant Knight heads have ribbons on them. I've seen some Throne armies around on the forums, so you might be able to look at them for what others have done. By laurels and ribbons you mean the black and white part shown here http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTN2-mNjXA3tvMfrNTWeJ1ns9Pi8BRwz1VDm4-UlhSZnX9rjkRMkw right? Because that's a hat usually used to protect you from the heat, from what I remember.
