Just saw online yesterday that GW are releasing new Space Marines/Codex for Christmas, and then new Tyranid in January after that, and when I told a friend just now he seemed to doubt it to the point of basically saying its all rumors. Are there any truths to these leaks? or are they just wild guesses?

Heres the full list I saw on some guys blog:
2013 -
July: Apocalypse
August: Lizardmen
September: Blood Bowl?
October/November: Dwarves? Orcs?
December: Hobbit/Space Marines

2014 -
January: Tyranids

He then goes on to state that September through November isn't as reliable a source, but marines, tyranid and the hobbit are almost certainties.

wild guesses in my opinion. If they released 2 codexes this rapid, why would they suddenly wait half a year or so to release the next? and SM really arent that bad, they need some tweaks and a new toy thats about it not a complete revamp like the Tau got lol (or the Orks are probably going to get)

Agreed, orcs need the codex more than anyone at the moment I think. I don't really feel I need a new codex as a SM player, but wouldn't mind my Tyranid getting one!

Nids need it to condense their options. They are good, but they are the biggest rock paper scissors race right now. if they guess your list, they win. if they dont, if they win you goofed or they had baller dice because they SHOULD lose.

Their stuff is jst too specific and cannot be multi-tasked like most races can.

It's happened before. 3rd edition started out with a flurry of quick releases, and then gradually slowed down, with codex releases getting progressively further and further apart.


The rumours when 6th edition dropped was that the first few codexes had been finished for a year or so. Presumably, once that pool of finished product is used up they are going to have to go back to writing the codexes as they go.




Having sid that, and release list we have at the moment is just rumour. GW believe that telling people what they are working on leads to people not being interested in the product when it finally arrives. As evidenced by the rapid decline of the movie industry since the internet came along and went all spoilerific on them.

I think my biggest problem with nids is that there are a lot of models which don't make sense for me, such as Pyrovores, that just seem like theyre a big waste of points. Maybe im just not a good nids player but ive fielded Pyrovores a few times and they just seem broken. Things like this need a fix, as well as maybe Lictors now too, they don't seem as good as they once were. But yeah I think Nids are very situational like you said, once you play a friend with the same type of army, and he knows what models you can bring to the table, he can pretty much guess your every move and table you, where as other armies don't have this problem and can switch it up when the situation asks for it,

Of course, I could always just go look at the news/rumours section of dakka.

The next 40k Book is almost guaranteed to be Codex: Space Marines (I have mixed feelings on that), with Tyranids coming after in 2014. I think the longer term predictions have Orks/Guard after that.
