Is there any info on this event?
I can find little information of the events immediately after the siege of terra, specifically about this.
I assume there must have been something suitably epic, billions of mourners, lakes of gold, suitably over epic kinda stuff.
anyone know any more?

Well he's not dead, so a funeral would be a little out of place. I've certainly never heard of such an event being held.

A funeral implies that he died. The Emperor did not die which means no funeral.
He still lives but he is in critical condition. The Golden Throne is his lifesupport keeping him alive. This means he is no longer able to run the Imperium (not that that means much sense he stopped leading the Imperium the second he created the High Lords of Terra) and he spends every minute of his life fighting the forces of Chaos by keeping them out of the mortal world the best he can.

Jocky's question still holds though, I think. Even when renowned heads of state are critically injured, there are candlelight vigils, huge periods of mourning, giant turnouts and the like. Given that this is the same person for whom an entire continent was razed in order to provide a platform for a victory parade, it seems to follow that following the aftermath of his battle with Horus, there would be some form of ceremony, impromptu or otherwise, fitting with the epic gothic tone of 40k.
Now, that being said, since I've never heard anything about it either, that leads me to wonder about circumstances in which there wouldn't have been any period of mourning. Is it possible that the High Lords kept the Emperor's fall a secret for a while? Or do we know from a documented source that it was open knowledge?
Good question, OP. I'd like to know more.

Could be argued that the Imperium is still in mourning.

Ah an eternity of mourning! seems like an appropriate imperial response!
well assuming there was no formal funeral, was the a ceremony before his entombment in the throne? or did they just plug him in and pretend nothing happened? I kinda enjoy that idea, *speaking to an imperial* "Oh no, hes alive, just sleeping.... it's been a while, but i'm sure he'll wake up...."
also, many keep saying he IS alive. I always assumed that was up to interpretation... isn't there a major possibility that he IS just a corpse, and all the throne does is use his brain as a computer? use that energy to push back chaos and ect?

Yeah, that's kind of the theme of the whole setting. The whole God-Emperor thing might be a ruse. He may really just be a corpse sitting on a chair.

I think they would probably hush up just how badly the Emperor had been messed up. It's in the interests of the Imperium's rulers to suppress any suggestion that the Emperor might be weak in any way, probably expecting that announcing such a thing would lead to panic, rioting, secession and so on. They probably also wouldn't want to publicly admit just how close to defeat they came for the same reasons.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics. |

On the subject of how badly off the emperor is, I remember reading a one page piece of fluff jammed into the massive fluff container of the Inquisitor rulebook that struck me as being very interesting: I just so happen to have that book within a few steps distance, let me refresh my memory. Yep, it's relevant, and much more intriguing now I know some more back-story on the heresy. http://cdn.preterhuman.net/texts/gaming_and_diversion/Warhammer_40K_Collection/Warhammer%2040k%20-%20Inquisitor%20-%20The%20Living%20Rule%20Book%201.1%20%28Part%20I%29.pdf it's page 3. P.S. Inquisitor is a specialist game. The rulebook is available for free online. Just in case anybody was getting nervous about me posting a link to a rulebook pdf.
