I run Chaos and have somewhat of a tough time dealing with my friend's Dark Angel gunline. He just added a Land Raider as well to his army, and he Deep Strikes 2 squads of terminators.
It always seems like I seem to box myself in because he destroys my Land Raider and 2 or 3 Rhinos I bring, then nothing can really make it up the board. If needed I can post what I ran with last time when we played 2290 points.

What is he using to destroy your land raider so early? Usually a dark angel player will need meltaguns for that, or a really lucky lascannon shot.

Bring a daemon prince, but look at the table terrain before deployment. If there are any buildings that block LOS then deploy him and go immediately into swoop mode, so you can start getting into close combat on the following turn. If terrain is sparse and there's nowhere your daemon prince could hide completely, then deep strike him - there's nothing wrong with waiting a turn or two before committing to battle, if it means it keeps your model alive to do damage. Also consider autocannon havocs - 4 of those put out 8 s7 shots per turn which can slag vehicles and also force armor saves on his own marines. Finally, heldrakes are just epic. If you don't have one save up and get one, because they are totally worth it to you to own. He will spit and rant when you vector strike a unit, killing d3+1, then torrent flamer and kill even more in the same unit.

I don't play chaos but I have won and lost against them more than a handful of times, those are my 2 cents.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

In my last battle, it was lucky Lascannon shots that took out my Land Raider

Try moving away from transports to models that are naturally fast like bikers, spawn and maulerfiends.

Also consider reserving a rhino squad to claim objectives late game.

My main two recomendations especially at that level would be a hellturkey or two depending on your saturation of bikers and spawn, one of which should be pretty saturated. and deep striking oblits right behind is LR or other juicy stuff. They will absorb masses of fire before finally keeling over and those twin linked meltagun shots at rear armor are money all day. Maybe even throw in a mauler fiend if you have the slot open (shouldnt have it open though) to absorb fire off your other stuff. It won't make it to his side alone but will take a beating from lascannons thus a cheap airbag for your expensive LR.

I am in the process of magnetizing my Maulerfiend, and I also run squad of 7 Nurgle Bikers. Don't have any Heldrakes because nobody I play with has/uses flyers so we don't.
Everywhere I read says they are amazing, so maybe I will save up and pick one up for the advantage , or at least to throw in another variable in to the fray.

Chaos Terminators are pretty cost effect, can run full combi for some deep strike and pop action (Melta that LR).
Huron Black heart is really amazing for that guaranteed D3 infiltrate.
Kharn in a large cultist blob can also be scary.

And with gun lines it's all about forcing them to stay castled up and lose (either because you took first blood or more objectives are away from the gun line) and come out of the safety of their shell.

I was thinking Ahriman instead of Huron. Was going to run him with my Cultists, since he is Fearless, and also has the D3 infiltrate.

Am I the only person in the universe who's getting hit by 10-12 lascannons on the first turn from Dark Angels (hits, not shots as most are twin-linked) 100% of the time?

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Beyond razorbacks, predator turret and land raiders, where are they getting all of the TL'd lascannons?

Devastator squads.
