Why is it that DE don't get mutated in to grotesque versions of Slaneeshi creatures, the way humans do by the ruinous-powers.

Could it be:

A. Eldar physiology is a lot more resistant to that of Humans.
B. They run away from She Who Thirsts, rather than embracing her.
C. Their torturing of others is renewing them to the point that they will never succumb to the physical corruption.
D. Slaanesh isn't really in to mutating followers like her siblings, but rather promoting beauty.

I'd love to hear your guy's take on it.

Ha ha but DE do look hideous! To a daemon or any psyker. They see DE for what they truly are. Hideous necrotic abominations that are rotting away. If you start seeing Dark Eldar that are starting to look old. It likely means they have consumed so many souls that even that excess is becoming meaningless. In a sense they have been mutated. D I would say yes and no. Slaanesh makes others into the "beauty" of his own. Think daemonettes and noise marines.

DE aren't Slanesh worshippers, they don't welcome the ruinous powers into their beings and hope to become daemon princes. They just feed her stuff to keep her from taking their souls.

Dark Eldar avoid the warp and hate Slaanesh.

Worshipers and followers get mutations. Not enemies.

Unless you fight Tzeentch followers, then all bets are off.

Slannesh effects Eldar differently than other beings. It feeds on their life energies like a sweet meat or fine wine, draining their vitality.

The DE acts of torture, pain, excess, etc... basically recharges their life energies. Staving off Slannesh's draining. Being in the Webway constantly also dampens the effect.

If a DE doesn't constantly recharge they'd eventually wither away and become dead husks.


Slannesh doesn't want to mutate Eldar, it wants to feed on their souls. And the DE provide a constant source of energy or whatever you call it. The DE don't really care they are feeding Slannesh as long as they can continue to exist.

It's a little of A, a little of B, by the way. (Eldar were a DESIGNED RACE. They did not 'evolve' they were created that way. This is one of the reasons they see humans and lesser races as beneath them. They were designed to be "perfect" - humans are an accident. A series of beneficial mutations that led to an end.

They don't ACTIVELY worship or follow Slaanesh. They created it as a result of their racial excesses.

The pain they inflict, the tortures and all that are to top up their own souls. Their souls are akin to a bucket with a hole in it. That hole feeds slaanesh. The trick is to keep the leak to a trickle and to keep topping up. The webway slows the flow to that trickle whilst they are inside it. It's when they enter the 'real world' that the hole gets wider.
