I've checked thru all the internet and even this forum doesn't mention the possibility of a sniper firing at a flyer.
Or at least never gives a real awnser.
Sniper rules are that they hit on a 2+.
Flyer rules makes ground targets without skyfire rule get a BS equal to 1...

Snipers don't seem to use bs at all, wich means they could shoot at flyers with extreme ease.
Considering how deadly the vindicare has always been against tanks because of turbo-pen rounds, he'd become the ultimate one shot one dead flyer killer.
Pair that with a Vendetta, 3 lascannons should be enough, in one turn one can easily (like, really easily) shoot down 2 flyers, wich is a big deal.

Tho some people in precedent unsolved threads argue that sniping a plane looks ridiculous, I disagree.
Snipers are precise partly because they have unmatched movement prediction skills.
Warhammer 40k planes move in a straight line at constant speed. While basic units that are not trained to deal with it might have a hard time, Snipers should be able to hit them.
Hell vindicare are the Imperium's finest shots, they should do that !

Nope snipers still have to use hard to hit and snap shot at flyers.

First of all, linking to pirated copies of GW books is not really a good way to keep yourself unbanned here.

Second, those rules are ancient and obsolete, from at least two editions ago. The assassins have been moved to Codex: Grey Knights, replacing any previous rules. Once you use the correct rules the question in this thread is no longer relevant, as the rule no longer exists.



And this is not even a GW rulebook. It's a supposedly leaked playtest copy from before 6th edition was released. Nothing in that "rulebook" is at all relevant.

You have *nothing* in which to back up your argument besides a couple of obsolete rulebooks. Snipers hit using BS value, not on 2+, ergo they have to Snap Shot like everything else.

The Vindicare's not all bad at AA fire, stick him on an Icarus Lascannon and watch the Flyers keep out of your way.

Snipers haven't "always hit on a 2+" for the last several years (a few editions ago). They use their own ballistic skill to fire.

4th edition, so 2008
