Shas'la with Pulse Carbine

A battle report posted had a discussion of a rule came that I thought was a no brainer, until I re-read the rules in question.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/530959.page
The issue is there are two rules posted for Drone Controller:
Page 68 : All Gun Drones, Marker Drones and Sniper Drones in the same
unit as a model with a drone controller use the bearer's Ballistic
Skill instead of their own. If a unit contains several Drone
Controllers, use the highest Ballistic Skill amongst the bearers.
Page 105 : Drones in the unit use the bearer's BS.
Why would one disallow the other? In this case a missile drone using the BS of the suit with Drone Controller.

The rule on page 105 is a brief summation of the rule for ease mid-game.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

The complete rule always gets priority over the shortened reference version.

as of right now Missile Drones do not get BS benefits from this. Im sure it was intended because theyre kinda lame without mass markerlight support, since its just 2 shots w/o twinlink. But till it gets faq'd, missile drones will remain BS2 w/o markerlight support.
That final page thing is shortened rules. They list the page for the big rule for a reason.

I believe the long version was intended and the short version is yet another sign that the editors need to be fired. Missile drones are a lot more powerful then the standard gun drone as they have a higher strength, range and the same fire rate. Given they also have the equivalent cost there is only one downside to selecting them over the gun drone, and that is the twin linked nature of gun drones. A Drone Controller can unfairly sway the balance of power by making that loss of twin-link irrelevant for less then 10 points. It is all moot now as missile drones can only be put with broadsides, which makes the tactic of drone-controlled missile teams too restrictive to be feasible.

No. The short version is not a sign the editor needs to be fired. People who are getting confused just don't understand what the reference section is. It's a reminder, a quick refresher. A summary of the rule, not a replacement for it.

I often blame the editor for things like this as it is an easy game with the way warhammer is written.
Still what part of it being the reference section changes this. If you have two sections outlining a rule, it is the editors job to ensure they match. I understand this is a reference, but that doesn't mean the editor can simply ignore the whole section. They still need to make sure when you read the reference you come away with the same impression of the rule. All drones is defiantly a big oversight that an editor should of caught.
