May seem a stupid question but is it a good idea? If so, what do I bring? I'm playing DA for this game.

It is fine, but keep out of rapid fire range as it takes a large number of warriors to kill anything out of rapid fire., pro preds are better the vinds due to longer range.

Mathematically, a 20 man Necron Warrior squad that rapid fires against a Land Raider should score 4.4(so 4 or 5) rolls of a 6 on armor penetration.

So, if a big squad of them can kill a Land Raider, then Rhinos are worse off.....unless you bring a lot of them.

Smoke and cover also plays a role in this, that same Land Raider would survive those Warriors if he popped smoke.

Scarabs also bad news versus vehicles and Wraiths can destroy light vehicles. Once again, unless you bring a lot of them.

So, I would say for vehicles against Necrons, either bring quite a few, or none at all.

Necrons have many, many ways to disregard the AV of vehicles through gaussing, entropic strike, rending, armorbane warscythes, and even a two shot multimelta. Getting your vehicles close to a Spyder spawning some scarabs is also a nice way for it to go "CANOPTEK SMASH!" and rip open your metal box.

Against Necrons you'll be much better served with a large number of vehicles than a few durable ones.

It depends on the list he'll field, but a common unit in all my lists is a 5 man warrior squad with a stormtek or two buttoned up in a nightscythe. This unit will erase any non-flyer vehicle on the board the turn it comes in that is within 36" of my table edge. The nightscythes themselves will usually put a vehicle or two out of action as well. I usually take 2 but sometimes run as many as 4 or 5. Zahndrekh giving tank hunter to a 10 man warrior squad also spells doom for most vehicles.

Bottom line, Kain is right. If you are going to take vehicles:

- Take a lot of them
- Keep them cheap
- Whatever you have designed them to do, make sure they can do it in 1-3 turns, because that's likely all they'll get.

don't forget my personal favorite.... Haywire

Vehicles aren't necessarily a bad idea, just make sure you know exactly what your opponent has for Anti-vehicle... and take advantage of cover saves, as the necrons have very little to get rid of that.

Well it's not that you shouldn't bring vehicles, it's that you have to be prepared for them to die a lot. Try not to make a list where you can't afford to lose one or two vehicles against Necrons.

Land speeders work well against necrons. Low armor, cheap, and they can zip around behind most necron vehicles and hit that 11 rear armor with meltaguns, which will blow them up on a 3+. Or screen your more expensive vehicles with them for a cover save, and take flamers to wipe out swarms of scarabs.

Some cheap speeders and whirlwinds will do pretty nicely depending on his list.
