Welcome to the Crons - I think you've picked a great army, cos we have a great choice of units, some horrifically overpowered builds (if you want to use them) and generally are pretty resilient. The codex has a number of combos in it, which I'm sure you'll be able to work out. There are also a number of units which generate internet scorn, but I find play well on the table if you combo and use them properly (my Sword and Board Lychguard are an example).
So let's have a look at your first army!

40k, and now that I have all the units that I need for smaller games. I decided to make my army list to field in my first game. I like to have a plan on which units I will be fielding and how I will use them in advance.
Necron overlord
-Weave
-Resurrection Orb
-Mindshackle Scarabs
-Warsythe
160
Good. Standard loadout is
WS,
MSS,
SW. The orbs are sometimes useful, just remember to put them with full units (ie don't spend the points for one in a block of 5 immortals).
Perfect.

20 Warriors
These 20 warriors will be joined by a cryptek from overlord's court
I'm assuming you are going to put the overlord in here as well, to get the benefit from the ResOrb
Veilteks are generally used with Deathmarks to get the wounding on 2+ benefit from the flamer. In a warrior squad, you may find it is not as useful, because Warriors don't hold up that well in
CC so you may not want your blob to be that close. Given you are planning to veil this unit around the board (see comment below) you may find
CC is something that is hard to avoid.
GA are great.
AB are great units and are only 90pts. Also, from a $ perspective the kit is great value as you get an overlord in the box as well (a plastic one!!).

Using this list I plan to attach the destroyer lord and overlord to the squad of 20 Necron warriors and use their cryptek's veil of darkness to jump around the board, overwhelming any units it encounters with huge firepower. The smaller squad of 10 Necron warriors will stay in the ghost ark and hold objectives near my side of the board. The annihilation barge will back up this squad, using it's Tesla Destructor to kill any enemies that attempt to assault the Warriors.
So, combos are where you really make a list shine. In your plan, think about the following:
1. Destroyer lords are jump infantry, so putting them into a warrior blob will slow them down significantly. They are normally used with wraiths, so then you have a fast attacking unit with preferred enemy. Not saying you can't use them in a warrior blob, but effectively the only thing you are getting is preferred enemy (plus another set of
MSS and a
WS). However, if you took another overlord instead, you'd unlock a second royal court, which would then let you add another cryptek/lord to this blob. It would also be around the same points.
2. While it is nice to think about your blob deepstriking around the board, it is particularly risky because of the huge footprint. So, I'd recommend against it. This blob really wants to be near the
GA to help regenerate any losses.
3. Re combos, at the moment you have a fairly decked out overlord. However, for a few points more you could take Zandhrek, who has an orb,
SW, a phase shifter plus a really helpful ability to add a special rule to a unit for a turn. He can also take away a special rule from an enemy unit. I find him really helpful as an army wide buff (for example you could give your blob furious charge AND take away counter-attack from the unit you are assaulting). There are lots of hidden combos that you can find so keep trying different things!
4. You effectively have a foot list or gunline and in this case you aren't getting a lot of benefit out of the destroyer lord. For a Cron footlist, think about a Triarch Stalker instead. The main advantage is that you can twin link the blob! Alternative, another Anni Barge would serve you better
5. You have no
CC. The primary unit in the Necron codex is wraiths (I find Scarab/Spyder combinations work as well), but they are hard to squeeze into a foot list at 1000pts. Think about some form of
CC as you grow your list. At this level 5 scarab bases
6. Mobility. Foot cron lists are not very mobile - so you need to be aware of that. Adding a veil is a good technique, just minimise the risk. Without going overboard, a couple of nightscythes will help a lot, normally use them with 5 warriors inside (often with a stormtek). Again, something to consider as you increase points.
Quick point on $$. There are a lot of lists on how to use a battleforce to get the most of it - highly recommend you do a search for those, because it is quite easy to get 5 immortals and 5 deathmarks out of the same box. You can also kitbash quite easily crypteks and lords.
