So I realy like the Posessed models for CSM but as everyone knows they are somewhat bad, to put it mildly. Terefore I propose that if yo take a Daemon prince as an HQ in either a CD or CSM army you could use posessed as troops provided they are of the same daemonic alignment. If you were to take them with Daemons they would cost +1 or +2 points extra and get Daemonic instability and Deep strike.

As Chaos Lords are elevated to daemon princes I think it would be logical for them to take their already daemonic servants with them into the warp or if he decides to remain in realspace he would probably atract more daemons than normal lords. This would also make for a realy cool undivided chaos daemons army with Daemon princes, posessed, furies (I don't know if anybody would use them) and soul grinders.

So yay or nay for posessed as troops

If you take a Daemon Prince as your Warlord I see no problem with it allowing Possessed as Troops, but this does very little about actually making Possessed useable.

If they got deep strike they could get close quite a lot faster and if you bring enough of them hopefully the enemy can't kill them all in one turn before the slaughter begins

as said above, the inability to take objectives isn't really why the possessed aren't that good. If I were you I'd just use bits from them to convert your guys if you like the models

They need an assault transport that isn't the land raider.

I like this idea a lot. It would make posessed SOOO much more viable. Instead of filling up one of your valuable slots, you could just throw them in as troops. Or spam them and make a cool assaulty army. It would be a very nice rule change ideed. Good idea

They are usable, at least compared to the piles of fail they were in the last book. They're just pricey and compete with Termis, Chosen, and Contemptor dreads, which are nearly always better. Also Chaos is lacking in affordable assault transports.

One thing from dawn of war that interests me is the ability to breathe fire, perhaps the possessed could get an option for at least one model to have a flamer type weapon?

Think of a daemon incursion like a fart you don't quite trust... you could either toot a little puff of air, bellow a great effluvium, or utterly sh*t your pants and cry as it floods down your leg.
