So im getting rolled because every one i verse if running cheesed up armies and / or bulk fliers like 2 min 3 mainly hell drakes
so this is my response list to that because im so against allies but it seems allies broke this game as i learnt tonight.
versing 2 hell drakes and a doom scythe. with only 1 storm raven for anti air which is normally enough. so i've tried to make something to help me.
and just throw up the middle finger to these cheesed up lists or the flier spam.
just wanted thoughts from you guys as im not 100% on my Tau side of things.

The problem is there is a tourn in 2 weeks with no comp so its gonna ooze cheese lists.

One man's "cheese" is another's "obvious take". If you had access to the helldrake wouldn't you use it? I'm finding it increasingly hard to blame players for GW's jello-headed mistakes. If they are even mistakes.

As you are finding out, the Stormraven is overcosted for the utility it brings to the table. As such, the Stormraven is *never* enough AA, because its primary competitors are more competitively priced.

If I were bringing Tau for AA, I'd probably with the the S7 skyfire spam myself. Or just bring IG and Vendettas. Vendettas own Drakes and Stormravens.

A few things, I do not share your hate for allies and I find it one of the things that I love about 6th ed.

2nd, IF you are using your stormraven as anti tank/flyers, save 30 points on the bolters and put las cannons on it. Line up targets and PotMS multi-melta one, and shoot 2 missles and a TL las cannon at the more distant target. unload every thing into one if it really needs to die.

3rd, if you insist on running you riptide as anti air(I wouldn't), try the heavy burst cannon. I haven't ran the math, but I'm sure 12 str 6 rending shots would do better than 3 str 7 shots vs. av 11 and likely 12 as well.

4th the maker drones and seeker missiles don't make sense on the Broadsides. If you want to roll 6s to mark flyers pick up a small marker drone sqd. they can fire BEFORE your other stuff to improve your BS or remove jink saves.

I'm assuming the FWs will be camping home base objectives? if so the devil fish is a waste of points. Pick up a third broadside or get a fragnaught in a drop pod or something to bolster you main force which honestly is pretty weak due to over spending on anti air.

Allies are fine. There are a few units in the meta that cause problems, and this has nothing to do with allies. Also, BA really stink right now, and so you are fighting an uphill battle.

How about tweaking the Tau ally so its like this:

Commander EWO, VT, Chip, 2 Missile pods 155 (joins Riptide, LOS 2+ and allocate to Drone 4+/4++ or Riptide 2+/5++)

Elite:
Riptide HBC, TLSMS, EWO, VT, SMD 230 (joins Commander, *riptide + shielded missile drone counts as 2 in a unit)

Troops:
Kroot x10 60 (reserve-outflank, claim objective) (You can switch to FireWarriors, join the commander and let the riptide to go solo midfield denying objectives.)

Fort: (100)
ADL+Quadgun. (Interceptor+skyfire)

That is a much more efficient set up, IMO. The riptide + drones would also give the commander majority toughness of 6, and between the 2 models with tank hunters you could pretty reliable delete one flyer per turn.

Plus it saves points to spend on the main force which is badly needed. The blood angel contingent needs some more survivability by way of bodies.

Yes, I would also like to remind Son_of_Mephiston that:
- Corbulo got 2+ FNP.
- BA need more troops to claim objectives on the table.
- Missile Devastator squad could claim FNP.
