Subject: Does a bosspole need to be a pole?

I bought some Ork minis the other day, and when looking at the Nobz it appears they do not have any sort of pole for the Bosspole.
In the codex it says that Nobz have a status symbol. It proceeds to explain two different examples: one of which is not a pole.
Does this mean that a Nob who does not appear to have a bosspole can have one?
Edit: this is the exact text.
Ork Nobz often have a trophy pole, a metal jaw or some other sign of their status that shows they are not to be messed with.

A bosspole is just a trophy rack is it not? I thought the Nob kit came with a bosepole...
Orks have lots of bits available for that, if you don't like any of those CSM have a selection too.

It is a distinctive trophy. You can model it however you want. Just make sure your opponent knows it's there.

Doesn't have to be a pole, just a symbol of rank.
Iron gobs or a pair of humungous boots work just as well

In the old codex Nobs could have metal jaws (Iron Gob) or Big Horns to get a +1 leadership bonus. I was always under the impression that the description of the Bosspole entry was written to take such models into account, seeing as those options were removed.

I always thought the bosspole was something the big boss would use to whack the lesser orks with.

Nope, just a big, meaty, green, fist.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Or maybe a Space Marine helmet on an iron mace?

very useful, but I've always hated the name, it was suggested changing it to "i'z da boss" - which you could claim is the Ork's fist.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!" |
