I would vastly prefer ACW, WW1, Korea, and Vietnam at this point to any WW2 or Modern war... wouldnt mind me some more Cold War Gone Hot though.

Perhaps the Korean or Vietnam Wars could be a good setting? If it ditched most the traditional FPS weapons (sniper rifles in particular) and focused more on close range, low tech weaponry, like a standard sub-machine gun, flamethrowers, combat knives etc, and actually put more effort into what weapons it did have (so fixing "knife to the foot=instant death" for a start) we could see some originality, or at least in FPSs.
How about a modern setting game where you play as a member of an Arab Spring insurgent rebelling against a tyrant?

You don't get high-end equipment unless you steal it, your weapons and ammo are consistent between missions, etc.

Meh, no game is going to do cold war gone hot as well as Wargame: EE and ALB do it.

It worked out pretty well for Mojang.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Me and you already discussed this in another thread but its worth repeating here. I would love me more Cold War gone hot games.

World in Conflict is one of my favorite games of all times. Im really looking foward to trying out the Wargame series as Ive heard nothing but good things about it

One thing I'd love to see is an RTS based off naval conflict in the early 20th century. Russo-Japanese War and WW1 especially, dreadnoughts, battle cruisers, big guns and armor, would be great stuff.

Battlefield Vietnam never was that popular.

I think I bought it then played about 3 missions from it, then never touched it again.

Anyone else have a review of hte campaign? I've heard good things about it both here and from my Steam friends list.

I thought it was pretty good, the missions were your standard CoH fare (couple of city missions, an encirclement one like in CoH 1 and Dawn of War, a couple of hold at all costs missions) but they are all fun and produced some tense moments. Also the campaign will rank you up a fair bit and unlock some bulletins. I went from rank 6 to rank 20 just playing it on medium difficulty.

The campaign was okay. I didnt like the direction they took when telling the campaign but I thought the actual levels were just fine

The campaign was adequate enough but not nearly as good as it could be. but worth playing if you like the war in the east
