I'm trying to decide how to paint my dark angels vehicles. I'm running a lot of terminators and I like the fluffy white/sepia wash color they have so I'm going to go with that. I'll paint power armor green to stay with the fluff. But when it comes to vehicles, I'm at an impasse. I don't like the idea of painting so many things green. I used that route with my ultramarines and hated how everything was the same shade of blue. I suppose I can do some test models, but what are your opinions on painting the vehicles black with some battle damage and mud?
Cheers

Well you could even go with painting the main stuff like Rhinos green, the faster stuff black and some things like maybe LR the bone if you wanted to stick with having a mix of them.
I think them black with some damage and mud would look decent as well.

This is the way I see it:
If say, a Land Raider, is being used to transport Deathwing squads, than it should be painted in the Deathwing scheme. Deathwing dreadnoughts are the same as, according to the fluff, the marine entombed inside would have been a member of the first company so he would continue to serve with his brothers.
Other tanks, including some Land Raiders, would come out of the Dark Angel motor pool and would be painted green like the rest of the chapter.

Dark angels pre-heresy were black. Post heresy they are dull green (hehe I mean dark green). There a lot of players thta go with a brighter green, and lots that go with a more bone heavy overall scheme.
You could put the pads into bone and part of the backpack. Why woudl anyone consider painting their marines like someone else? They might as well have not painted them and just looked at the other players army instead.
So go with what you want. Don't worry about other people or fluff ostriches (who stick their heads in the ground when change is mentioned).
The models are yours and players will go:- oo thats an interesting/nice scheme. If you were to go straight/codex copied - you would only get a polite smile from most players.
Also, why DA? Dark vengeances fault? Why are games workshop trying to rescue the reputation of DA. They should just accept that they're not liked as a chapter by most players.
edit - I have seen a number of schemes that have half and halved the tanks. Half the army colour and half codex grey, the scheme works well on high contrast pain schemes. Just a thought.

Back OT...
Stick with the fluff, as mention before.
Bikes & Landspeeders Black. It's ok to assume that the Commanders/Librarians would use stock chapter vehicles if they use bikes.
Deathwing Dreadnoughts would be white, there is no way once you're in the inner circle you would go back to green armour.
Land raiders for termies would also be white.
Everything else green.

Sorry don't want my statement to lead the thread astray. Maybe it's just the circles of gamers I play with, and not an overall dislike in the community.
I'd be tempted to include the vindicators and predators in the white scheme along with the LR, as the chassis is heavier than the regular rhino/razor one armour points wise.

Fluff-wise, Vindicators and Predators would be drawn from the main Dark Angel motor pool and would display the the company colors. However, since the Deathwing are equipped in TDA, they would need Land Raiders for mechanized transportation; It would make sense having their own motor pool consisting only of Land Raiders.
Other armored vehicles could be deployed with a Deathwing task-force, but displaying standard company colors and heraldry, but perhaps having campaign emblem signifying that they are attached to the the Deathwing companies.

I repainted my Marines as DAs about 4 years ago - why? Because monastic Marines in robes are badass.
That and I had a strong melancholic streak at the time...

Consider doing a successor chapter. I've always loved DA, but I've had more than enough green in my crons. When I finally took the plunge, I went with Angels of Vengeance. If you want to stay a little more true to the green, you could go with a Disciples of Caliban chapter. It's still green, but with a lot more black thrown in, and it pretty much gives you full reign to do the vehicles however you like.
