I think I got it the shade I wanted and hit it with anti shine and it crackled. I thought about getting a q-tip and some acetone but if rubs it too far Im starting over and theres a little bit of time there, any thoughts?

You can usually respray as the varnish will act as a solvent for itself, but if the cause of the cracking is still there it may reappear.

You could always paint over the bubbles to make them look like some kind of mould or fungus spreading across the flag.

Hey thanks for the replays to the first you mean if I re-varnish like just clear coat it again it will take it out? And the second after i read it I sat and stared at the flag trying to see what it might look like because there is hardly any green in the army, very interesting idea.

Yes, if you respray with the same varnish it will often fix any cracking/misting problems.

If it is similar to frosting then hitting it with gloss coat then a clear cost might be better

Well, from what I know the gloss coat has some stuff that will disolve varnish. MajorTom has a good tutorial about fixing frosting if you are putting on a dullcoat, it's a different problem, but might be fixable with the same solution:

The relevant part that might be helpful:

Just as I was about to give up, I got one new suggestion. Spray them again with Gloss sealer.

Seems a bit counter-intuitive right? I mean these were matte coated, which is a thinner sealer, and still got ruined... why would gloss help, especially when the brush on version did nothing?

Well, the answer seems to be a combination of 2 things. 1, the thinner present in the medium of spray gloss sealer, and 2. the nature of gloss itself. The thinner seemed to do a better job melting the frosted sealer than any of the actual solvents, and then as it reset, the gloss itself seeped in to all the nooks and crannies. You will instantly see a difference after applying the gloss sealer. The best part is, you can restore your intended matte finish by simply spraying matte sealer on top of the gloss!
