Pretty self-explanatory really, can my Ork Stormboyz use my Tau Pathfinders' homing beacon to prevent their deep strike from scattering? As Allies of Convenience (no, I don't know why either) it says they 'Are not counted as friendly units for the targeting of psychic powers', and also 'Units in your army treat Allies of Convenience as enemy units that cannot be charged, shot, targeted with psychic powers or have templates or blast markers placed over them.' Also, under Battle Brothers it doesn't say anything about this that would hint any lesser allies could not do this.
It says nothing anywhere about using your Ally's equipment, such as a homing beacon.

What is the wording on the homing beacon? pg 69
That should answer your question.

They can not. This is not derived by the allied rules themselves, but by the wording of the equipment you are trying to use. It would be very rare for a piece of war-gear, which could be used by more then the person carrying it, to not contain one of the two following limitations: codex only or friendly. This is why the line about treating them as enemies is so potent, because anything worded to prevent your opponent using it against you also prevents your allies from using it as well. On that note, anyone know a piece of war-gear that could be used by enemies?

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures. |

AoC and Desperate Allies are treated as enemies, therefore they cannot use Homing Beacons or Locator Beacons.
