A little light on troops, I know. But usually I use my troops very defensively. The Kroot always reserve and often the Serpents as well. Farseer usually joins Broadsides but will often jump around. Between Prescience/Guide I usually find myself not needing any extra markerlights. The Commander+Broadside unit is incredible, it helps a bunch vs Mechdar and Heldrakes. It also chews through most infantry. The Guardian Serpents are pricey but so far i've been very, very happy with them. The goal is to knock out heavy weapons early with my Broadsides/Skyray/Riptides. Once that happens I can usually get my Guardians exactly where I want them safely and with combined firepower they can do quite a bit of damage. The Devilfish squad is similar. I'll often try to get it close to wherever my Kroot outflank in order to boost them and the FW.

Any suggestions? I figure there might be some ridiculous Taudar combinations that eluded me.

I really like it man. I like the combination of vehicles TauDar can stick together, and with your list they mix with the Tides well for target saturation.

I'm inclined to go with the Stealth over the Shurican Cannon myself, although you do get a hefty amount of Dakka with the variant you have them in. Ultilamtely to me, those WS need to stay alive long enough for the Guardians to get into useful areas. Of course, with the Kroot outflanking you do have some nice redundancy built into your scoring already. I'm just a sucker for AV 12 skimmers with 4+ cover saves .

Other thoughts, I love the Ethereal in most cases, but do you feel like you get enough of him out of him in this particularly list? Seems with the Kroot reserving he's mainly buffing one squad of FWs? In all Tau I would never say drop the Ethereal...in this list...maybe. Hard to completely see how you play it though.

I say definitely drop him. I love how he buffs 36+ FWs, but that ain't the case here. 10 dorks outta D'fish ain't optimal.

The Cmdr. Hmm. Maybe a C&CN. So many drones, prolly getting Marker help, but it'd seem that you may as well, buy this toy, and have it apply to 72 points worth of STR 7 x2 fun. I don't run the Shas'O as the buffer anyway, but it seems this is a lot of HQ to buff an Anti-Flyer crew, just so they can give the finger to any Jinks.

I think buying Velocity Trackers are going to be cheaper than squandering the HQ's BS5.

Anyway, if it's working for you then keep it, but I think he can be far more useful otherwise equipped.

Hq never fires.

Ethereal's LD10, Stubborn, Etc are invaluable for Riptides and Broadsides. My Broadsides on H&A often take advantage of snapshots after running. I can keep him in the Devilfish to have his radius apply from hull covering greater area. I also can get him to my outflanking Kroot. He's a steal at 50 points and I can't think of too many upgrades I'd rather have.

I usually Guide or use Marker support for my Drones. Differs based on targets.

Also, I do really like 4+ cover saves myself. However, its hard to find 45 points to get the 4+s on my transports. Generally, i've found that the shield gives the Serpents enough durability. I also put them in reserves often and play very carefully with them as to not expose them to damage too early. Most opponents also end up spending more time shooting Riptides/Sky Ray/Broadsides, since ignoring those will result in large amounts of damage being done over the course of a game.
