For anybody who missed out on the LL Minis KS from last year, Andy has added the minis to his current KS project at a steep discount. And it's the last week for the Redredged RPG campaign in general. I'm a backer but not affiliated with Andy. I just dig his stuff.

Seems a bit sketchy to have a kickstarter offering miniatures as rewards... that were funded by the previous kickstarter, but have mostly yet to be cast (only the first 10 have been cast) and some yet to even be sculpted?

I love his wacky art and text, but with his previous campaign generating over 50K, I think he should have had it be further along before offering the same miniatures up as rewards... driving a new campaign higher with things that were already funded by the old, but have yet to be delivered on!

The only minis being offered as rewards for meeting stretch goals are new sculpts (other than the oofo with dementalist ties, which makes sense tied in to that heap). As for the original 43, I think Andy just decided to add them to this KS to give folks that missed them the first time through a chance to grab them at a sizable discount. As for the minis KS not being fully delivered yet, there are plenty of much, much larger companies doing the same thing, and besides, from reading the frequent updates and comments in that project, he had sculptors lined up and delivery dates for greens that for whatever reason fell through. Andy's ben nothing but forthcoming about his frustrations with the delays in the process and has been nothing but generous with his campaigns.

I have pointed out this same concern with those larger companies, too... and I have yet to support any KS that has not fully delivered on their previous campaign. It's not as if the previous campaign is close to being completed... from what I can tell, it is actually a really long way off from being done.

Again, I like the guy, but that would be a dealbreaker from me in supporting a new campaign...

A friend of mine, judgedoug, recently got his stuff from the first KS. The minis look good and the books were so cool that I immediately ordered one. Andy Hopp seems to be really on top of his game because that book came to me signed with a drawing in the front cover within six days of ordering it.

I think the biggest problem with the minis KS is that Andy was a bit too optimistic with his timetable, and took the sculptors at their estimated delivery dates. The other projects that he had KS campaigns for that were funded delivered much close to their original estimations, but he had a lot more control over them without having to wait for sculping, casting, shipping back and forth, etc. As much as I want my cremefillian on a mutant land fish, I would rather it be done right and, as manchu said, after getting the first ten and being quite pleaseed with them, I'm content to wait if need be.

Looking at his art, I think the only way to paint those minis is white primer and base coat plus washes. What are your plans, maccioniath?

I completely agree with this! I looked through his past kickstarters and saw that the ones for books (i.e. that he had complete control over, as the writer and artist) he has indeed delivered on. That's why I think this campaign is great as far as the book goes, but I wanted to point out that it will likely be a long wait for those minis and people have already been waiting a really long time.

Manchu- Are you local to judgedoug? Just curious, since you're vaguely "local" to me, too . I believe Gymnogyps, who I am local to, also backed for one of the books.

Yep. Although considerably more local, I think, than you and I (IIRC).

thanks! for all the problems Andy has had getting them, I have to say these are some seriously nice minis. The mix is nice and hard, so the mold lines are almost nonexistent and there was no flash at all. They cleaned up real quick, and came with the beveled, sunken PP-style bases. If the rest of the minis come through as well executed as these, I can live with a bit of a delay.

That's brilliant, maccioniath! I'm really excited to paint mine, now. I'll have to wait a few weeks as everything in my apartment is getting packed to move to a bigger place.

I threw down about 500 bones on the minis KS (basically to get everything plus the limited editions) but I know it'll take a good long while to fulfill. Needless to say, I'm supporting this KS too.

yeah, me too it's all David from The LaughingFerret blog's fault. the first time I saw the KS I said, 'wow, who would want model of a twinkie with a hammer?' but the. he ran a whole segment on them, and they set up shop in my head

Yeah that's a good one too. I really want the Cremefillian on Mutant Land Fish. And the offo Mosstrich hunter.

Are you on the Mutha Oith boards at all?

My initial shipment from minis kickstarter just arrived today, along with my two books.

My shipping label had gone over to the next page and they didn't realize it hadn't gone out, thus why it was so late.

As an apology, they did include a free copy of the card game, which was a nice surprise!

I do have to say that Andy has been really good with giving honest and real updates about delays and why things are taking so long.

Edit to add - RiTides, I totally understand your reluctance to back a kickstarter from someone with one outstanding. I have the same "rule" for backing now, after seeing some things on Kickstarter.

But now that I've gotten my first shipment, and with the updates being provided on the older project, I would be OK with backing the new one if my funds allow.

Better get those clams in order, Gymnogyps - there's only three days left in the kickstarter!

Andy has been nothing but classy about the whole thing. You can tell he's probably even more frustrated about the delays than most of his backers are, because ultimately, it's his reponsibility to get them out to us. And I do firmly believe he will, or I wouldn't have backed this one, and certainly not for as much as I did (just don't tell the wife, ok?) Now, some of the other KS projects I've backed, I'm starting to get a little worried about...
