In my on going quest for an allied force for my IG i have come to orks to lookk at what they can add to the IG list, im liking bikes for the speed and closing of gaps, maybe the mass blobs as more bubble wrap that can move under the cover of IG fire to get in close with max numbers.
But how does their CC fair? is it enough to make a formidable ally?
Would the ork mass amounts of shots help IG or just add little?

What kinda of list would you run if you chose IG and Orks?

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

I have run the following with my IG army. My main IG is vets in chimera, CCS behind an ADL (with their chimera running around providing cover), outflanking scout sentinel squad 3 strong, vendetta, storm trooper squads, and a nice bolstered/las cannon executioner. To go from 1500 points to 2000 I add ork allies and maybe some other stuff.

Ork warboss w/ mega armor, cyborg body, boss pole
5 mega nobs with Kombi weapons
Battle wagon with deff rolla, armor plates, big shoota x4, and red paint job.

What do they bring? A close combat threat. Most games they start close to the CCS or executioner. Most times this deters drop pod sternguards. In other games the draw fire and keep the heat off of the chimeras.

At first glance, the only things they bring are MANz and bikes.

A green tide (well, what you can do with that that actually works) is easily achievable by infantry platoons, and ork artillery doesn't add much to guard artillery, and their flier isn't as good as the guard flier, and their looted vehicles are, well, just worse versions of those guard vehicles before they got looted.

Given that most of the real differences (orks have jump packs, grotsnick, etc) aren't terribly good, the list of things that orks have that are different, and are something useful to guard is pretty short.

Basically, MANz and bikes short.

Ive been modeling and playing the IG/Bloodaxe Orc theme for several months now.Tried several different combos with my casual group of players

The combo ive had the best luck with in the 1500 pt builds is using a WB with eavy armor,shoota/scorcha,PK,Cybork,attack squig,BP in a BW with 18 Ard shoota boys/Nob w/BC .I usually just have a couple of Big shootas on the wagon with a Deff rolla and RPJ..Ive found this works well with a gunline settup bringing the wagon out of reserve..gives a good unit to run up a flank and wreck faces with

Ive tried my small 6 unit of nob bikers with some success as well,I like to run them with my IG Hellhound as cover.

Not much. All of the horde units are just duplicating what IG already do, and all the elite units are worse than what you could do with allied marines (similar combat ability, no psychic defense/allied ICs in your squads/etc). I guess you might want them for fluff reasons?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

A KFF mek+Go to ground+Get Back in the Fight. Give the mek some boyz for bubblewrap, (but not to many, you want the KFF field to help as many Guard squads as possible) than either a Manz Missle or Biker Nobs for a big shiney "Shoot me first" that is hard to kill.

Ork allies count as enemy units to guardsmen though. KFF only works if you play it as working on enemy units as well.

To my knowledge, the KFF doesnt specify friendly models. It technically gives that 5+ to enemy units.

Doesnt matter if you play it that way or not. I havnt looked at it in awhile but i dont recall anything saying friendly units...just units in general.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Right. Personally I play it as friendly units only. I'm just pointing out that it should be one or the other, since allies of convenience are counted as enemy units.

Yeah bikerz look like the way to go for allies, speed and cc would compliment the IG nicely.

Do orks possibly get any good FW stuff that can help my IG?

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

MANz are signifcantly more durable than Terminators vs Small Arms fire (that extra wound goes a long way) and can fit into cheap transports, and Nob Bikers are still very hurtful and hard as nails even with the loss of LOS shenanigans.

After looking through stuff online about FW I'm thinking upping my points to fit in a sorta small dread mob or kan wall.

Do Kanz fair ok? I

How is the old tactic of burnaz in a wagon still hold up?

Burnaz in a wagon is better than ever before because they can overwatch any sucker who wants to charge them.

@kain I always loved the idea and thought it was so funny with mass flame templates, I just never see it anymore.

The cheapest 33 model count tarpit (grots) around your soft long ranged gitz.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.
