I definitely agree with the above posters on Obliterators! Most definitely. Can't believe I forgot to mention them.

As for the Noise marines - Their effectives is so amplified in 6th because darn near everything gets a cover save these days. NM deny cover and the Blast Master is Str 8 AP3 small blast. If you take Sonic blasters with them, find an objective to park them on so they don't have to move and the Salvo 2/3 No cover will work wonders against most units. Initiative 5 will help as well when assaulted. Taking IoE will further increase their resilience. On the move is when Noise marines tend to lose effectiveness.

Going back to the original idea*, how's this for an unmarked shooty 1500 army?

2 heldrakes

[are these better with hades or ectoplasm?]
350

10 cultists

champion with combi-flamer
70

1495 points total

*which is probably weaker than cheap fearless MeQs but what the hell, I already started the list

And your points are wrong by quite a lot.

Plus cultist champions can't take combi-anything.

You did get the heldrake and forgefiends right though.

For the fiends, id say go with the stock dual hades autocanon. You will find the 24 inch range on the ectoplasma way too restrictive and puts you in range of tons of anti-tank weaponry. Two fiends are throwing out 16 STR 8 shots every turn. While innacurate, the ability to re roll failed wounds and pens for a turn can be invaluable when you need to get that certain kill.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

My home

Hi,

I really liked how Puscifer faced a non-mark shooting army, but I'm dissapointed how fast he dropped those limits in order to make another common shooting list, just to be "more competitive".

Well, I'm also a IW player but in my list I only put mark on 1 HQ at the most, just to represent that HQ is specially skilled in combat, etc. , the rest of my army's miniatures don't use any kind of mark.

After so many testing, I think if you want a shooting army without using any mark you have a few ways to reach that goal:

- In heavy support slot, I have to say the best results I ever had were using defilers and havocs, long range artillery is allways usefull against anything and havocs gives you all the firepower you need (but it's better you allways try to make 8+ men unit).

- Troops choices is obvious, regular chaos space marines squads. 10 men with plasma or plasma & missile launcher/laser cannon.

- Elite units, here I have to say I had a very good experiencies with hellbrutes. Also, 5 men terminator units are usefull too, because you can use them as a counter-attack unit. Many people love chosen, but IMHO, chaos terminators are better for my way of playing.

- In HQ, chaos sorcerer and chaos lord are my choices, even over warpsmith.

- Fast attack, except 5men raptor squad with meltaguns or plasmaguns, and, same weapons on a 3 men biker unit, I don't think you can find better option. Except if you like helldrakes of course... (I don't use them because I consider IW are a specialized on ground firepower).

Hope that info will be usefull for you.

Regards,

Zmanzeta
