Hey folks. I'm thinking about trying out this list . I just kind of built it from units I wanted to try out so I don't have much of a stretegy in mind for it, so tips that way would also be very welcome.

I have a basilisk model I can sub in for one of the Leman Russes too, so that's the main thing I'm debating.

With the changes to the Leman russ tanks, if you take any of the ordinance variants you should take a bare one as it is wasted points for sponsons or hull upgrades - they all fire as snapshots after you fire the main turret weapon.

This exactly, and your troops seem to be pretty light aside from the vets in the fliers but they will still be easy to kill once they land on an objective.

Alright, so If i drop the sponsons, how should I improve my troops? I don't think that's enough points for another kitted vet squad.

50 conscipts will do you nothing, yes you can FRFSRF and you can use Bring it down on them but I used a squad of 40 and even with all the fire power for that squad they need 5's to hit and then depending on what you play mostlikey 4's or 5's again. If you use conscripts take chenkov as a platoon commander, then that 1 squad of 20-30 conscripts and let them hold an objective on your side of the field close to your board edge. They will just keep respawning and will be a permanent objective holder/ contester on your side unless you get tabled.

That will also save you some points to add more infantry squads or vet squads.

If I were to take conscripts and send in the next wave, could the conscripts assault the turn they come on the table? I'm thinking if something gets past my lines, i'll send in the next wave, ahve they rapid fire, maybe even FRFSRF, and then charge to clean up.

No you can't assault the turn they arrive. (unless they have a rule that says so. but conscripts don't)

No because they are pretty much coming in from off the board. And you cant rapid fire and assault they could only rapid fire or just assault. they don't have assault weapons. They dont have any killing power whats so ever not even in CC because they dont have sergeants to take power weapons. Dont even think that they will kill something, maybe they will cause a couple wound during a game but dont expect them to readlly do anything. There goal is to permanently hold an objective on your side or contest if your opponent is on it to.

So if things can just never assault on the turn the hit the board, doesn't that just completely invalidate outflanking assaulters? Is there any way to get a unit into CC without it getting shot up before it gets in range?

No, there is only like one unit which is ymargl genestealers if thats how you spell it, where you nominate a terrain piece and when they come in from reserves they come in on the piece and they can assault the turn they come from reserves. But otherwise no units can assault the turn they arrive from reserves.
