Just wondering if you can Daemon Bomb (ie deep striking all your Daemon Allies on icons so no scatter/less scatter) with allied CSM using Possessed (Daemon special rule). its a little unclear.

My interpretation is that CSM "demon" units can use icons. However, since they have marks they would have to use the rules for demons that do not share alignment. So only d6 scatter.

The only exception would be the CSM demon prince who does have a "Demon of ...." rule.

A strict RAW reading leads me to the answer of scatter the full amount.

There was a debate a month or so ago if marks where enough to fill the requirement for demonic alignment. The answer was no, as demonic alignment was a clearly defined special rule in and of itself. There is nothing in either book allowing marks to substitute themselves for alignment, even on models that have both the daemon special rule and a mark, so permission is not given to treat a daemon with a mark in the same way as a daemon with an alignment.

The first option is clearly out.

The issue here is the second option also talks about models having daemonic alignments. It is one that could be open to a very interesting debate in and of itself however. An argument could be made that having no daemonic alignment is clearly different then having the same daemonic alignment. Those going from a pure rule as written stand point would point out that it states you need to have a daemonic alignment before you can even begin to compare them.

I would recommend talking to your opponent, given that it is going to all boil down to the ideals of 'do you consider nothing to be different from something?'

I'm not quite sure what the question is.

Are you asking:

A) Can Daemons from the Chaos Daemons Codex use Chaos Space Marine Icons to reduce or eliminate Deep Strike scatter? (Answer: No. In fact, Icons in the CSM Codex have no effect on Deep Strike at all)

Or are you asking:

B) Can models with the Daemon rule from the CSM Codex use Chaos Daemon Icons to reduce or eliminate scatter? (Answer: Any friendly model with the Daemon special rule, regardless of mark or alignment, can use an Icon of Chaos to reduce Deep Strike scatter to D6")
