Are there any significant Games Workshops or other wargaming stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow? In particular, I'm looking for stores that sell Wargames Foundry minis as well.

There is a Gw in Edinburgh(located on the Royal Mile), to be honest it is not that big a shop. As far as I know there are 2 independents also; Black Lion Games who caters mainly for the RPG crowd but does carry miniature ranges(not been there in a while so I don't know what he has). The newcomer is run by the guys who run the 6s2hit website, they stock (Correct me if I'm wrong) GW, Mantic and Dystopian wars. Sorry I don't think either of them stock Wargames Foundry stuff. As for Glasgow I know there used to be a couple of GWs dotted about(perhaps some of the Glasgow crowd can help out here). The only other one I've heard of is Static Games. You should find their addresses in a White Dwarf seeing as they are all stockists.

Static Games on the Trongate in Glasgow stock some Foundry I believe (but not that much), and a lot of blisters from smaller/obscure manufacturers. They should be able to order stuff in though.

In Edinburgh you've got 6's2hit and the games hub (a cafe with board game library and gaming spaces, with a small games shop inside) - http://edinburghgamehub.co.uk/

In Glasgow we got a decent sized GW, about 4-5 6by4 gaming tables on the go, the biggest one i've been to in Scotland. Static games do a variety of miniatures so if you're in glasgow thats your best bet for the foundry minis

Are you looking for somewhere to buy or somewhere to play?

Try asking at the new Stirling game store that opened. More of a gaming venue than a shop, I think.

In general historicals are bought from game shows, not shops, I believe.

Don't forget worlds at war in Livingston - mainly war machine, hordes, dystopian wars, flames of war, various historicals etc. i think he might do the stuff you're after as well or else be able to get them in.

Worlds at War Livingstone would be your best bet as they have a good range in.

Though the GW in Edinburgh while small has fairly decent staff and is quite a good place to go

Wonderland Models on Lothian Road stocks some plastic historicals (Wargames Factory, Vitrix, Warlord, Airfix), so they might do. It's a fairly small selection though

I've been to the Royal Mile GW. Had a pretty good experience.

All right, I just came back from GW Edinburgh, and the people there were quite nice! I was also happy to notice that the display table had a bit from the Wall of Martyrs, which was perfect for a model-shoot my WWI-themed Guard army.

Also, can any Scottish Wargamers be honest: are the GW workers in Glasgow as nice as the Edinburgh ones, and is the blue uniform universal across the UK?

I don't know the Edinburgh store, but the Glasgow staff are all really friendly and nice. The usual array of overly-keen novice staff, but those who've been around a while and calmed down are solid, and the manager (Steve) is a bit of a legend.
