Just wondering what you guys use to transport your tyranids safely around? Mainly the monstrous creatures like the winged hive tyrant.

I like buying those gun cases from Plano...search around here on dakka, there is a great tutorial on how old boy uses them for his MC's as well.
The cases are like 18 bucks and come with layer of pull out foam and 2 layers of egg crate style foam. Totally worth the purchase price.

Darn, I was looking forward to a discussion on an actual Tyranid model that can transport other Tyranids

If all else fails buy some pluck foam and cut it to fit in a shoebox.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

I was totally hoping to jump in on a conversation of that.

Feel free to go off topic sounds a better way for the thread to go.

Maybe the flying hive tyrant instead of vector striking, he could drop rippers etc

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I completely and wholeheartedly recommend Battlefoam for your Tyranids.

Their laser cut trays are perfect, and the semi rigid foam helps prevent spikey bits catching when inserting and removing models from the trays. On top of that, a 1520XL is the only case on the market that'll hold a Tyranid army with a bunch of MC's and supporting infantry without resorting to multiple cases.

It's expansive, the most expensive foam product on the market. But if you don't want your bugs breaking from spikey bits catching on soft foam, and/or want to transport your whole army in one case, it's pretty much the only way to go for Tyranids.

The Plano pistol cases really don't work for Tyranids, when you've got half a dozen monstrous creatures that are over 6" tall and even bigger in length, plus dozens of weirdly shaped infantry and mid sized models on top, without resorting to carrying 4-5 cases.

Magnets in the base, metal toolbox.
Holds 2 Flyrants, 2 Tervigons, 3 Carnifexes, my Doom, Pod, and 50 Termagants. Plus the rule book, codex, tape measures and markers. Only breakage was when I was being dumb, had all the models on top of the toolbox and threw it open to grab my brb. Diamond plate isn't the best thing to stick magnet bases on.

for my gribblies I use bead boxes, similar to this: http://www.jtcustomtackle.com/image/5mm%20Bead%20Box.JPG
bigger things I have in the halves of the various boxes I've gotten, with wavy foam lining them. holds my 2 walking tyrants, 1 flyrant, swarmlord, 2x tervigons, 3 trygon bodies, and 6 fexes.
anything else (warriors, hive/tyrant guard, zoeys, venomthropes) I have in a big carry case from various bolts and whatnot. Cant remember for the life of me what the brand is

Fine for travelling a short distance, but not really an option if, like me, you move around a bit. I do not fancy their chances on a flight.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

I have Pondered this for a few years, tried making shoe boxes work etc.. I have finally broke down and used tax return to pay for my Battlefoam 1520 XL -- Have not looked back since. I have had only 1 Gargoyle break and that was a glue issue. I havent had to fix anything since buying this case and in the 1520 it easily fits 3k points so i have options when i get to the store to play. Its pricey but the only thing worth it for the 'Nids.

I have a Battle Hive II case for my marines and that fits about 4k for the massive price of $69.99

Maplin Carry cases dude.

They work perfect as they are pick & pull interiors.
They are kinda expensive, but if you keep your eye out, Maplin do regular sales on them for £19.99.

FYI, I have several. All my big guys fit perfectly. Tyrants, Tervigons, Carnifex’s etc. There is even enough room left over for some Zoanthropes & Hive Guard etc at the sides.

FYI 2..... I have them for all my armies. Even Land Raiders fit in them & for my Chaos army, I’ve got about 8 Rhino’s to fit upright in one, with room for other stuff too!
